I want to help all the cats that I can but there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough. I have 7 cats of my own and 4 that were my neighbor's cats. They came to my house when she passed away. I pick up cats that are homeless because I feel bad when they are hungry and have no one to care for them. Someone has to take care of them! But I do not now how many more I can take in. People just don't seem to care about animals like they should. Cats and dogs depend on humans to take care of them and love them. We are failing at doing that. People should show more compassion and love toward their animals. If people would stay responsible and do the right things for their pets, animals would not be in  shelters and homeless or have to be put to sleep. Don't dump your pet off on someone else because you do not want to be responsible for him anymore. Take responsibility for your pet! I have seen people just leave a pet on the side of the street and it just breaks my heart. I just want all animals to have a home of their own and to be loved and cared for. Everyone should do their part to help this happen.

I couldn't agree more!  I've been taking them in, getting them neutered and vaccinated and somewhat civilized where needed and finding them homes year after year.  Some of them stay, but I do adopt out the most adoptable ones and they get really good homes too.   Eventually I chose the name Red Top Rescue because I am right next to Red Top Mountain State Park, and you would be surprised how many people dump their animals in a park!!  Anyhow, we all feel the way you do.  We can only do what we can do, and we can't change other people, although we can educate them, but the Cat Goddess does seem to help out with the finding of homes through networking and advertising.  I'm still working on it, particularly the group I call "Leftover Moms," because their kittens always get adopted, but it takes longer for the moms, but they are the sweetest cats.  Now is the best time of year to adopt out the adults because 2015's kitten season is fizzling out, and 2016's kitten season has not yet begun.  Many folks don't realize this, and they actually want to adopt out of the fullness of their hearts and wanting to give an animal a home for Christmas.  There are few kittens available at this time of year, which gives their mamas a chance.  Also, it seems a lot of cats cross the Rainbow Bridge in November, leaving vacancies that may well be filled by adult cats in need of forever homes.  My rescue is officially retired now, but I still have a bunch of leftover moms who will probably outlive me, so yes, I will be advertising again this year.

I'm sure you have heard the expression "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."  So THANK YOU for being part of the solution!
