Free Feeding Carb-Free Dry Food?

I have been doing a lot of research into the amount of carbs in my cats food to see if it might be why one of them is a bit overweight and "food obsessed."

We have been feeding her via a timed feeder for a few years, and I came across the food "Young Again" which has little to no carbs, and the seem very convinced that you should free feed cats this type of food:

Does anyone have any experience with this type of food/free feeding.

I have no issue with the food itself . I think the ingredients are good and that it has low carbs but I am not sure that free feeding is a good idea . I called the company and they are very adamant about this .  Also for the amount of food they recommend daily seems very low to me .  I was told that with the free feeding the cat would self regulate and eat appx said amount .. For a 16 lb cat the total daily feeding amount is  4 Tbs .  This seems ridiculous to me ..   My male cat is 18 lbs and I think he would starve if I only gave him 4 Tbs of food per day .   If I were to feed Young Again Pet Food ( which my cats sampled and did not like ) I would not follow their guidelines .. This is just my opinion ..
