I got here late, so I can state without question that it was labor! Isn't hindsight wonderful? Eight kittens is a huge litter, and to have seven survive means she's a terrific mom. Best of luck with your beautiful new family!
Kittens usually wean between 4-6 weeks. They need wet food, not dry, for the most part. You can start to leave down mush, which is smooth kitten wet food (like a pate) blended with water or kmr. It's smooth and they can start to lap it up. Offer it to them on shallow dishes or plates. Once they are eating and not just nursing they will need moisture from other sources.
Once they are really eating they'll need dry kitten chow always available. And water, of course. This is in addition to the wet food feedings.
