Hi Guys,

I need a little bit of HELP!!!

On Thursday Night the 5th my cat chevy, started showing this brown mucus like stuff coming out of her vagina, its now Monday night and she had quite a bit more but we noticed a yellow/Whitish ball started coming out, we rang the vet and they said they think she might be in Labour.

she's not going into her nesting box as yet we have had her in the room since Thursday night with some towels and blankets,

but she does keep getting up and then laying down again,

She has been very affectionate towards me and my partner especially in the last 24 hours,She is purring not so much Meowing and no frequent trips to the litter box

My question is when cats start having contractions can you notice it from the beginning are they tiny small ones? and then get worse and worse?

and how long does the contraction last when they start?

How quick is the time between contarctions?

It would be great if someone could help me as this is the first time i have had a pregnant cat.

It sounds like your cat may have lost her mucus plug. It also sounds like Stage One labor which can last up to 24 hours or more.

When you see her breathing heavily, even panting, she will be moving into harder, more painful contractions, which lead to pushing eventually.

Sometimes when a cat is in active labor you can see her sides "rippling", which is contractions.

In most cases cats have no trouble giving birth, although kittens can be delivered quickly or over a period of hours.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

main thing she isnt distressed in any way.  We dont like long fruitless active labor...  But precontractions, and pauses, may be common.

Keep close watch, of course.   It may become quickly touchy.

Good luck!

The brownish stuff you mention - is that dried blood?

Can you get a picture of it?

How much brownish discharge is there?

Brownish discharge is not normal.

You might want to discuss the brown discharge with your vet.

She needs to see a vet face to face who will take this seriously. She may have an infection which could harm the kittens.

She's had the brown discharge for a week now, which is not normal. An x-ray could confirm if the kittens are okay and/or ready to be born. It may be a discharge from a deceased kitten inside her, but it's concerning.

It is vaginal, right?

Sounds serious to me!! Please, please, please take her to the Vet...

She needs some help..

This does not sound or look normal for a pregnancy or delivery....something is wrong....

What did the vet say about the brown discharge? Did he actually see any of it?

Did he do an x-ray on your cat to determine if the kittens are all alive?

Brown discharge is not normal.

Yes he seen the discharge he thinks that it's because she it's from the movement and no he said she doesn't need an X-ray at this point because it's not constantly running out
