My nearly six year old rescue was spayed between 5-6 months before any pregnancy.  in the last three or so years, she has had episodes of periodically dripping very strong smelling discharge from her vaginal opening.  She displays no other signs of illness, is a healthy weight and her eyes and coat look good. She is often bullied by my two other older females but I do not know if that bears on any thing or not.  These episodes don't last too long but it is really bothersome when it happens.

Has any one else experienced this?

It could be her anal glands.  The next time you're at the vet or this happens, ask the vet.

Good point!  I hadn't thought about that.  I'll have do some research on proper anal gland care in cats.  Thank you!

It could also be vaginitis. I have a 13 year old spayed female that occasionally has bouts of it and a week of antibiotics usually clears it up. She never shows any symptoms except for the nasty discharge and sometimes she'll clean herself back there more then usual. My vet said vaginitis is more common in dogs but cats do get it and she thinks my Pheobes may be related to the herpes virus which she has had a lot of issues from. If it continues it might be a good idea to have the vet take a look.
