Hi, my name is Kane.

I found a stray kitten about the size of a three-week old outside where I work. Her eyes were matted shut, had a broken tail and she was very, very small and thin. I ended up taking her home and named her Leela, after the character from Futurama. I have had her for a little over three months now and she's still quite small. She's probably one third of the weight of my eight-month old cat, Cortana.

I'm not at all sure what's going on. First, is this normal for a kitten or an adopted stray? She's easily at least four months old and though she's still small and somewhat thin, she's perfectly healthy. The vet that I took her to told me that she seemed perfectly healthy to him. She hasn't gained a single pound or grown larger in the slightest.

Is there something that can cause a kitten to stop growing.

She may just be a small cat. Have you voiced this concern to your vet recently? If you're that worried about it I would contact your vet so they can best advise you on this matter.

If she was only three weeks old when you got her, it may be beneficial to use some kitten milk replacement or goats milk for kittens. This will help her to get some nutrients she may not have gotten at the crucial age of development.

Also, what food are you feeding her? Is it a kitten formula? Are you sure she is getting the correct amount and your other cat isn't pushing her away or eating the food she leaves behind?
