It's looking like River has mild Cerebral Hypoplasia (or something similar). I want to get some sort of carpeted cat tree to encourage climbing and (low) jumps. She's about 3 months and at this point can't jump up, has difficulty landing when jumping from about one foot off the ground, and has balance difficulties.

I don't want something tall, because I don't want her to fall. So I'd like it to be under 2 feet or so. Any recommendations? She has trouble climbing on the (leather) furniture, but can if she's very motivated. I think carpet with, maybe, a ramp would help her develop better climbing skills.

Oh sure, my Gizmo is a wobbly cat too. There are many brands that make nice, short cat trees. I'd recommend finding a model that requires less jumping to navigate. Something that is arranged sort of like a staircase will be easier for her to traverse. Keep in mind that if she is only 3 months old now her condition will improve somewhat as she gets older and stronger. If she gets worse, please consult the vet. There are some conditions that have similar symptoms but are very serious/are fatal.

Yes, we're keeping a close eye. So far she doesn't seem to be losing any skills, although she does seem to think being a ground cat is a good plan (not as interested in climbing as she was a couple weeks ago, probably because she's not a fan of the falling?). The vet basically shrugged and said maybe she'll outgrow it.

My cat Leah had the most fun playing on a cat tree. She would run and jump and play until she had to take a nap.

I saw this cat tree in a magazine the other day and thought of you...This looks like a nice one for wobbly cats.

Yes, this would be one tree I would suggest as well. I bought something similar off Amazon not too long ago.

These also might work:

I like the Drs Foster and Smith trees simply because you can customize a bit with their ramps.

Also, for the Trixie tree, check around on other sites like Wayfair and Amazon to see if you can get it cheaper.

I purchased this Trixie tree for one of my cats that has neuropathy and myopathy of his rear limbs. He has difficulty jumping onto and climbing up trees. He used to fall off the cat trees I had, so bought this to be used as a "connector" piece.
