Been reading the forums for months and decided to see if anyone had a little insight so I Joined!
I picked up two cats from a shelter in August. They were both strays and had been there for less than a month. My female cat, Kit, who the estimated to be 14 months old was a shorthaired cat at the time. Three months later she has a thick bushy coat. It started getting thicker as time went on, sort of a gradual change over the three months. I didn't particularly want a long hair. I was worried about shedding, but after a few fluffy cuddles I wouldn't trade it for anything. She also sheds less than my shorthaired, Simon.

Any ideas? She has also gained a substantial amount of weight. I don't think she ate much at the shelter. I've noticed she will avoid food when nervous. Little pig now!
