So we adopted a feral cat we caught at my mothers work and domesticated him ( he was still very young when we caught him). We try to keep our cats inside during the night but usually if we try keep this one inside he wakes up early in the morning like 3 am and wakes everyone up by irritating the other cats, meowing and so forth.so usually he stays outside and today when he came home we noticed his paw pad was cut open and he was finding it difficult to walk, so we put animal friendly anti-infective stuff on but is there anything else we can do? Obviously now he stays inside because he finds it difficult to walk but do you think just keeping him indoors until it's better is enough? It seems pretty swollen as well where it is cut.

I suggest that you take him to the vet. He probably needs an antibiotic as it sounds as though it is getting infected. They can also prescribe a mild painkiller (never give a cat human aspirin or tylenol, etc as it is toxic to cats).

Soaking his paw in warm water may help to soothe it in the meantime. He does need to stay inside and off the paw.

Let us know what the vet says.
