Hi everyone, this is my first post. I'll be volunteering soon with my local shelter (just completed orientation) and am trying to learn as much as I can. I'll be helping to socialize and train the cats to help them become adoptable.

I read the story about this cat and its human companion a few years ago. IIRC, the guy was some kind of biker, I think, who discovered that his kitten liked getting into water. It would bathe and swim with him, and he even took it "surfing" at the beach. Again, it's been some years since reading about this, so I may have some facts wrong. :)

I think they lived in Florida. It was a really cool story, I'd love to read it again and get a followup, if there is one.

Thanks!

Welcome to TCS!

I don't recall this story. I found these on Youtube -

Neo - a cat who swims in the ocean in Indonesia

Here's one with a cat surfing.

To be honest, I can't say I like the concept. Cats are not marine creatures and even though these seem like exceptionally mellow/resilient cats this has got to be stressful nonetheless. Also probably not the best thing for their coat.
