My baby Leo (found under a dead kitten I wrote about it) he has been drinking the milk replacement than on his month old birthday introduced to baby cat wet food he loves it. He doesn't like it mixed with the milk tried to give him dry kitten food in food ate a bite full also soaked it to soften it did not like he ate really good yesterday had wet food and milk. Today he wouldn't eat his wet food and only drank 5/7ml of milk he's been sleeping a lot and not playful. He does use the litter box and he did poop and pee. I don't know what to do? Should I try turkey wet food instead of the baby wet chicken??

This is probably wrong but I'm concerned over a loss of appetite and lack of playfulness. Those might be symptoms of something (more experienced advice is neccessary). Pumpkin (7-8) weeks still doesn't like her dry food. Your kitten's still really new to solids so might still prefer milk. (Don't quote me on that though).

F fullcard752 - Reluctance to eat or loss of appetite is particularly worrying in such a young kitten. If there's no improvement tomorrow id want to get Leo checked out by a vet. Kittens can go downhill so rapidly. His lack of energy makes things more worrying too.

There's no harm in trying a different food though - a change might get him interested in food again.

FYI - its really not a good idea to soak dry food if you can possibly avoid it. Dry food has a higher bacterial/fungal load than wet food, and soaking it encourages them to multiply.

Mega :vibes: that Leo picks up soon.

Sometimes it is necessary to soften kibble - particularly in the early stages of weaning.

There's never a problem with adding water to wet food though - its actually a great way to ensure proper hydration.

Thank you Columbine I thought I was nuts but thanks that I'm not. He is drinking a little water out of the big cat bowl but still won't eat wet/dry food. I guess I'm gonna have to call the vet. Thanks

I am so, so sorry. At least she knew she was loved, and knew the comfort of a home and family after her poor start in life.

:rbheart: Rest in peace Leona, you gorgeous girl :rbheart:

What a sad update @fullcard752.   Little Leona was loved and cared for over her short life and this is a precious gift for any living creature.   Thank you for taking her in to your home and heart and caring of her as you did.  Such short lives hit hard when we have to let them go, the TCS team would like you to know that we are so very sorry for your loss.

Threads are locked after someone has suffered such a loss, as a sign of respect. We invite you to place a tribute for Leona at http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge  as an enduring testimony to her, and to share your thoughts about her there.

Run free as you cross the bridge  little Leona.
