My cat's butt stinks & it's not anal glands

So Mama kitty has a stinky BUTT! Whenever she sits on my lap I can smell it.

I know what you are going to say...anal glands. Well, I took her to the vet to express her anal glands. He did so and told me that hers weren't full and what was coming out was normal for a cat. I saw myself and there wasn't a lot.

Her butt still stinks and my other 3 cats (who all eat the same food) don't have this problem. I've tried wiping her butt but it doesn't seem to make a difference. She's a shorthair so there are no poop remnants sticking to her fur.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the smell? It's not a big deal, but I would prefer to not smell it when she sits on my lap.

Hi Are you sure it is coming from her butt? I once had a dog that actually the smell was coming from inside the body,but you thought it was the butt..Many bathes etc.Really reaked.Anal glands fine too.Ended up being the food.

Changed to a good quality grain free & no more stinky.Because your others are ok doesn't mean this kitty can tolerate, which I am assuming, the same diet.HTH C.They examined the mouth of the kitty too right?

As our smells and where we think they re coming from can be the total other end of the body.Is Momma kitty fixed an how are her bowel movements?Do they stink too.Is she lactating now or just a Momma Kitty? Let us know.hugs C.
