I am so glad that I found this site.!!    I wish I would have found it long ago.  Thank you all so very much.
I am glad you are here . This is a great site . Lots of helpful info and nice people ..

I am glad  you feed the Blue Buffalo dry . Although kitty will not eat wet yet she is getting a  healthy diet ..

Since your kitty likes the taste of Tuna  maybe you could try Blue Buffalo Flaked Tuna  , it also comes in Chicken ..

I know how frustrating it is to get your picky cat to eat wet food ..

My cats are really picky but I finally got them eating all wet food .. They only like Fancy Feast Classic  & 9 Lives Meaty Pate Chicken .

Cats know what they like now don't they.     I used to be able to feed her Fancy Feast appetizer   (Skipjack)...Then NEW and Improved...came along and she would not even touch it.   I even called Fancy Feast.  They more or less said too bad.

I was devastated!!!.   I have been searching ever since.

You are so right about the nice people on this site.  YOU are definitely one of them.

Thank you.

YES I used that as a treat. Kitten couldn't wait to have one. I swear she knew the packaging. As soon as they improved it she has never touched it.

Hi Kittens Mom,

What a shame huh?     I called them and told them. I am sure that there are more of us out there. Thank you for the reply.  I love this group.

Have a wonderful day.

I wonder what they done to them. They look exactly the same as before. Mine now get a bit of albacore a few times a week. It's probably less expensive.

With all due respect ,  person stated that cat will not eat any wet food at all and will only eat canned tuna meant for human consumption . In this case dry food is necessary because canned tuna is not a healthy and balanced diet for a cat ..
I'm unsure why I was quoted in this. I said to feed dry food...

I have to respectfully disagree. Dry cat food is unnecessary.
If their cat will not eat wet food and the only form of "wet food" their cat will eat, is human grade tuna fish, then what else should their cat eat?

Respectfully, I've had a cat with anal gland troubles. I've had two vets tell me it was because I was feeding too much wet food as her stool wasn't hard enough to express the glands when she would poop. Now, I always fed a balanced diet of wet food and dry food to my cats. My cats (I've had a total of 9 in my life), before I actually had a say in what they got and I actually bought their food and essentials, were on nothing but dry food with the occasional wet food as a treat (and that was maybe once a month). They did fine.

Certainly I'm 100% in agreement that if the PP's cat won't eat actual wet cat food, then they need dry food.

I meant that a cat doesn't have to have dry food, as long as they're on a nutritionally complete canned cat food.

Sorry for any confusion!

I understand.  She loves her Blue buffalo dry, but her bowels need a wet food too.  I appreciate your help.

Thank you,

Karen

Good Natured at PetSmart is an affordable wet food.

I also really like Nutro when it is on sale.

Just a tidbit.

Also, nothing wrong with feeding dry as well. It is a common mistake that dry food is unhealthy. It is a balanced diet. I know Veterinarians who feed their cats only dry because the cats don't like wet food. They are just as happy and healthy as a cat who eats holistic or canned only. =]

There is nothing wrong with dry cat food.

Working at a Vet's office - this statement bothers me often.

I agree that cats should get a healthy amount of wet food since they are not big water drinkers and it helps keep them hydrated.

There is nothing wrong with adding in dry food. ESPECIALLY if the cat doesn't like wet food. Tuna is not nutritionally balanced and cats are more stubborn than dogs. They are more likely to hunger strike to the point their body thinks they will starve and if they lose weight too quickly they can get fatty liver disease issues.

My cat doesn't really like wet food, so he gets a controlled amount of dry twice daily. I know veterinarians who only feed their cat kibble. It is a balanced diet.

Just because it's not as holistic as people would like does not mean it is unhealthy.
My younger cat just about jumps up and down for joy at her dry food.

Since neither binge eat and drink plenty of water we have a cat sitter come in once a day to put out a can of wet for each cat but we leave a full bag in a tray on the counter along with my ( their ) favorite pasta kettle filled with water. We live in a rural areal Even moderate snow/rainfall can make it near impossible for someone to get here if they are uncomfortable with these kind of road conditions.  We also have shelters for them inside if the power were to go out.

I would love to board them while gone. I am not impressed with many of the options or stressors when it comes to putting kitty up at a pet hotel.  I had a vet rail at me over feeding any dry food. I see them being used to it and knowing what they like a good idea.

I wonder what the had to cheapen it for. Already paying a premium price for a bit of food. It was a wonderfully handy treat. My cats both love a taste of bacon. Something we seldom have in the house. Most cat treats are garbage.

Ive been experimenting too. Believe or not, if you do the math, Fancy Feast actually costs more than the large 12.5 oz cans of Wellness. And Wellness is far better quality. I sat down and did the math for several brands..the most affordable were the large cans of Wellness and Trader Joes. Trader Joes is more affordable than Wellness. (buying the small cans of Wellness is far more expensive)
