I took my cat Dixon to get neutered today. Im not 100% sure his age because he was a rescue but around a year. Everything went fine and hes eaten and drank since we got home but just abit ago I noticed hes walking on his right rear hock. Hes walking normally on the left side. He is not in any pain and is running around as usual. This has never happened before tonight. Can anyone shed some light on this..

Hi RobynS1977.

I actually had two boys neutered at about 12 weeks and when I brought them home. They are brother's.One collapsed and had to go to emerg with IV fluids etc.His testicle area was HUGE.It actually looked like he had testicles of a very lge Tom but they had been removed. He also did not use gas.I should have pursued it further as it cost be over $1400.00

The vet's reply was well you didn't have to take him to emerg. He could have come here.I said you are closed. He said i have cameras.I said what are cameras supposed to do.He was brought home with buprenorphine & antibiotics.Inappetant & then his brother started getting sick.I finally freaked as I have had all my animals spayed & neutered in my lifetime & never this.

The vet admitted to me he did something wrong with Tj's surgery.I should have taken him to the board.Totally unacceptable practice. He could hardly walk.Actually the conversation should have been recorded as he is still in practice & have heard neighbors horrors. Not good.

So i am not saying that is your problem, but your boy may be feeling some discomfort. We all think this is no big deal and even this vet said 10 minute job for a neuter. But all is not what it seems to be.Keep an eye on him & if he remains the same tomorrow I recommend you take him back to your vet who did the surgery.

Can you see back there & see if he looks swollen? Has he used his toilet? HTH.Hugs to the Baby ,hope he is feeling better soon.C Actually TJ had a fever. If you have a thermometer you could check.I'm sure this site must have normal temp for a cat & show you how to do it somewhere in links.I am not allowed to tell you.I'm sorry but info is out there.Maybe an advisor will advise you & walk you through it.It is not hard at all.I used a digital baby one.Little vaseline.Took 5 min.

Something sound really wrong. There may be so much swelling that's it's affecting the nerve in the leg. Hopefully you can get him back to the vet today.
