TheCatSite.com is a community of cat lovers. We are here to help each other by providing advice and support in times of need, and also fun and comradeship shared between cat lovers. Throughout the year, hundreds of thousands of contributions have been made by thousands of members. Reviews, cat pages, images and most importantly forum posts, have all been made by site members, for site members. 





Now is the time to recognize the members who have made an outstanding contribution to the community, and we need YOUR help. Can you think of a TCS member who has made exceptional contributions to the community? One that impressed you with his or her total commitment to helping others, offering knowledge, support or just lifting everyone's spirits? Now is the time to tell us about it!



We will be giving out awards this year for members who have made noteworthy contributions in the following categories - 



1. Suppurrtive Furriend  - Nominate members who excel at providing others with an ear and a shoulder. Whether they helped you via threads or in PM's, if you felt like you made a friend here on TCS, nominate that person here.





2.  Cat's Whiskers  - Nominate members who impressed you with detailed knowledgable posts that explain more about cat care issues to others.





3. Pawsitive Purrson  - Nominate members who spread positive vibes all around them. Support in cat care threads, jokes and fun in social threads and welcoming messages in New Cats On The Block. They may not always have care advice to share but they try to be there and cheer others up.





Nomination Process:

1. Make your nomination via a Private Message  to any one of the site moderators, or the site owner.
   Include the following - 
   a. The username of the member you are nominating (please make sure you get this one right!)
   b. Which award you are nominating him/her for - Suppurtive Furriends, Cat's Whiskers or Pawsitive Purrson.
   c. Briefly describe why you are nominating that member. Be specific and provide links to relevant threads if you can. 
2. You may nominate up to twenty (20) members in total. It doesn't have to be in a single PM. Take your time and send more PM's if you think of someone else later on. 
3. TCS team members - moderators, advisors and mentors - cannot be nominated. They are all pretty awesome, and being on the team is recognition of that already 
   

Award Process:

1. All nominations shall remain confidential and known only to TCS moderators
2. TCS Moderators will serve as the Awards Committee. 
3. Member must be active and in good standing in the TCS community to receive and/or retain awards.
4. Members may be nominated for, and be awarded, in more than one award category; eligibility requirements must be met for each individual award.
5. Members may not nominate themselves for any award; all self-nominations will be voided.
6. The Awards Committee, at its discretion and by majority vote, may elect to reclassify a nomination to a more appropriate award classification.

Nominations will be accepted throughout the month of November.



Awardees will be formally announced by December 18th.



Award winners will receive a badge with their award!

As soon as I read the categories I had some come to mind. I can't wait to see the outcome.

Please do take some time! Consider everything and send your recommendations with as much detail as possible. Links to specific threads where you really appreciated that member's contribution would really help to. If you don't have any, don't let that stop you from recommending them, but it will help us evaluate the nominee.

There are many great members that deserves it all, for they're here long time.

They given all their best support, compassionate, helpful, great ideas and sharing their great pictures.

This is very tough for me to choose, I will take my time and think :-)

Good heavens...only 6!?!?!  I can think of 20 or so, and I've only just started here!  But I shall be perusing carefully.  I love catching people doing something right!

I'm so glad to hear people have lots of people in mind!   This time of year is all about spreading the love and being thankful, so I'll change the number of people you can recommend in total to 20. More data to process for the committee but it's the kind of heartwarming "data" I'm sure everyone would be happy to see more of

There are so many people on this board who are wonderful.. Can I just nominate all the members?  

Seriously, there are too many people who qualify for these nominations. Trying to pick even 20 of them is very difficult. I would not want to leave anyone out.....

I will have to spend some time with my thinking cap on...and a pad of paper; in order to make a list---and as Santa says: check it twice!

Totally agree!

This isn't going to be easy even with 20 to choose. I'm having to make a list of the moderators on top of everything else so I don't put them on my list.

Is there a list of the moderators so we can make sure we don't include them? As bad as it may be because they have some wonderful posts.

Always a good time for me to say a big   to all team members who are all volunteers! They do an awesome job making our community run smoothly!

Update:

We've received quite a few nominations for every team member. Having given this some more thought, we've decided to exclude team members from the community awards.

Not because they don't deserve them! Quite the contrary! Being on the team is recognition of the very qualities we're looking for in awardees. The team badge is a golden version of the same awards and team members are already wearing those badges proudly! 

I'd like to thank all of you who have nominated team members so far. Your nominations helped tremendously and myself and the team members appreciate the feedback! Thank you!

The categories refer to people who were supportive, people who spread positive vibes and people who contribute with their knowledge. I've already thought of several people I'd like to be nominated..

But my mind goes also to threads I've read for the few months I've been here (and I received a great deal of support myself), that have to do with people who have actively helped cats in great need. Or even saved their lives..

So my suggestion would be to maybe add a category for people like this..? Sorry if I'm going over the line here..

Not over the line at all! I always appreciate feedback!

I think that's an interesting idea and will give this some thought. These awards are about contribution to the community, so I don't think this would be a good fit, but maybe as a separate project, along the lines of "unsung heroes". I'll definitely give this more thought - thank you!

You are right! I didn't think of it this way! 

I always find stories like those as a major contribution to the community, cause they tend to open our eyes in so many ways. It's not always a happy story to tell how one got their kitty or kitties. Or pet(s) in general. And those stories are a real journey sometimes.. People who share those stories are a great reminder as to what Catsite serves, actually. 

And I'm saying that as a member who joined this site, initially just to be able to share experiences with other "crazy cat lovers" and ended up receiving a great deal of support and strength from across the other end of the world. 

 

We should be the ones awarding you guys, for a change
