My cat Pudden was diagnosed and treated for a uti back in august. I noticed some pee spots in the dining room and that she has been lethargic these past few days so I made an appt with the vet for tomorrow afternoon.

About and hour ago she peed an ok amount outside and then came in. About a half hour later I noticed she went to her litter pan. She pooped, but then went back. This time she tried to pee and nothing came out and she vomited.

She has since gone back 2 more times and passed a teaspoon of urine.

I called the vet and they said it is very rare for a female to be blocked. They said she probably feels like to has to go and keeps going back to get out what she can. They didn't seem concerned about the vomit as they said they can respond that way when pushing to go.

Her appt is now for tomorrow morning and if it becomes an emergency I can take her over immediately.

Does anyone have experience with a female cat that would go back multiple times in such a small time frame. I am so fearful of a blockage, but I know how rare it is in females.

Sounds like maybe the infection has returned.  It's not uncommon for females to get urinary problems. I'd get her in as soon as possible so she can get some relief.  You might ask the vet to do a urine culture.

I have an appt for her in the morning. She peed an almost mormal amount about a half hour ago so at least I know she is not blocked. I hope this next course of antibiotic will cure it. I hate to see her suffering.

HiGail.

Lots of times with uti's & depending on what was found before as per her last urinalysis, crystals, bacteria etc. Some cats and it really is not not more female  than male, it is just a whole lot of kitties dealing with this period.Sometimes a proper urinalysis isn't taken & culture & sensitivity isn't done & you are sent home with antibiotics that actually if the proper tests were done they'd find out that antibiotic won't even kill that type of bacteria. There can be crystals.Cystitis.Which is inflammation.Stress can bring this on.Diet as well.It is very common & painful .But can be life threatening. Most females do not block but all depends on what was found last time.Oxalate stones can block a bladder. You are privy to all test results.Pls get your own copy of the urine test etc to keep.If you see a lot of blood don't hesitate to take her in right away.

Hi LGail.

Just a quick question. When she pooped what was it like? You can be explicit with me as being constipated also give us the intention that a uti is going on when in fact hard stools are happening. It is very common for them to puke when they push.If it was balls and not a log, she is constipated. If it was a log but is hard as a rock it shouldn't be.Unless it has been in the litterbox for some time.Constipation is often overlooked and blamed on something urinary. So you kinda need to know as per stance or your kitty. Can you tell if she is assuming the position to poo or pee? Some cats assume differently.Squatting for peeing and standing more for pooing etc.Every cat having it's on ritual of how she/he goes.Something to pay attention to_OK? Constipation I can certainly help you with.I deal with people all over the world with constipation & Mega Colon personally..So may be try to pay more attention to positioning & the rectum.Look for blood as blood is more likely with a UTI than constipation.OK? LMK Hugs C.If you took the litter out & put paper towels in there do you think she's till attempt?if so this is where you may be able to determine blood etc.Appetite been ok lately?

Hugs C.
