Hello fellow kitty fans,

My boyfriend and I have a 12 year old rescue tabby called Chica. She is generally in good health for an older lady. She has litter tray problems at times. She poos on the floor some days even though she has two clean trays and can go outside when we are in the house (no cat flap as it's a rental house).

Anyway, I am in Paris for two weeks for work and my boyfriend is looking after her on his own. She was ok all last week (didn't even poo on the floor) but now this week she has been sick at least twice a day for the last 2 days. She has pooed on the floor although the poo was solid.

If I was home she would be straight to the vet but my boyfriend has just started a new job and can't/won't take time off (also, I don't trust him to take her to the vet in her carrier as he can't pick her up properly to put her in it and would probably forget to shut the door and let her escape on the way to the vet).

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced their cats vomiting like this. She has been sick before but never longer than a day. Other than that she is fine. She looks healthy, she isn't lethargic, she wants to go out, she wants to eat and she is drinking. I skyped them both and I saw her wondering around, jumping up on his lap. I have instructed him to give her boiled chicken tonight, and no other food. He bought a new batch of cat food on Saturday so it might be a crap batch (she gets Nature's menu usually).

I guess I just want someone to put my mind at ease. I feel helpless being so far away :( I'm sure if I was there she would be fine, lol (my poor boyfriend). She is our little fur baby. I suppose it's possible that she has eaten something dodgy. She doesn't really stray too far from the garden when she goes out but she does catch mice from time to time so I'm really hoping she hasn't eaten a poisoned mouse or something.

Thank you

x

Ruth

If the vomiting and the new food line up timewise, I'm guessing it's a bad batch. OR is it possible that your boyfriend grabbed the wrong kind? Even switching food within the same brand if it's a different flavor can sometimes upset kitty stomachs.

Thank you Paige8. I think you're right. He gave her the plain chicken last night and there has been no vomiting. We will try and buy something else for her. I get back to London tomorrow so hopefully she will be ok by the time I arrive. She does have a very sensitive belly :(
