I got a bag of commercial raw cat food and I'm having a hard time figuring out how long it would last. There's no information on the bag indicating how many cups of it are in the bag. I've used it only supplementally, so have no clue how long it would last if I fed it exclusively.

I got Nature's Variety Instinct chicken and it was about $10 for a 1.5 lb bag.

Commentary on cost of other forms of commercial raw is fine.

The Raw Bites? 1.25 pounds is about 20 oz. or 566.99 grams which is 2.39 cups. The Raw Bits are available in a 3 pound bag which will last longer. The 1.25 pound bag lasts me maybe a week and I only use it as a post-dinner snack (a spoonful) for one cat. For a meal, the bag won't last more than 4 or 5 meals. The NV web site has a "how much to feed guide". A 10 pound cat who needs to maintain weight needs about 7/8 cup for a meal.

I mainly feed the NV medallions and keep the Raw Bites for the post dinner snacks.

Hmm....maybe I misread the bag. I thought that it said that 1 cup was enough for a 10 pound cat for a day. I'll have to go recheck it.

At any rate, it doesn't appear to be anything that I can afford to feed full time.

I did the feeding calculator again for a 10 pound cat and it does say 7/8 cup (daily, not meal). Not sure why it differs from what's on the bag.

That's pretty close anyway. When you first said 7/8 cup, I thought that you meant per meal. Per day makes more sense.
