Worried about my kitty

My cat (one of four) Samson started pooping all over the place two nights ago, when he's never had that problem, even when I first got him as an abandoned four week old kitten. He jumped up onto the bed, meowing as if something is bothering him, and had leakage with a reddish brown mucus in it.

I can't get him to a vet until Friday at the earliest; none of the local vets will see him without cash in hand.

He's eating and drinking well, his box is cleaned very regularly, and though he's less active than usual he just seems like he isn't feeling well. His back end is sore as well, around his butt.

I'm worried about him. :(

He is 100% indoor, but we recently acquired two kittens who came to me with runny eyes and noses, which has now cleared up.

None of the others have any problems.

Any idea what could cause this?

It could be a lot of things from Bactrial infection to some virus to worms. I would get diaper rash cream for his bottom if it's raw. He is going to get dehydrated pretty quickly if he has diarrhea and Friday is a ways off. Is there any way to get him into the vet earlier?

Try to syringe feed him some wet food, that is meant for bad tummies? That was he gets at least some fluid in him as well as nutrition. Mix the food with water for even more fluid. Try to get your hands on some pro-biotics as well. Hope you get to a vet soon, and that your Samson makes a quick recovery!

I've asked all the vets in my area- that isn't many, as I live in a very rural area. Apparently they've been burned a lot, so they don't offer credit plans. I don't qualify for Care Credit, not do I have anything to sell to pay for it. I wouldn't even have internet if I didn't have my phone, which is my only telephone.

He is eating and drinking normally, so I don't need to syringe feed him just yet, I don't think. I am watching him closely, and the diarrhea seems to be slacking a bit, so I have hopes.

I've read that adding canned pumpkin to his food could help firm things up a bit. Is that a good idea, or should I just keep an eye on him until I can take him Friday?

Thanks for the responses.

You can tell whether he is dehydrated by taking hold of the scruff of his neckand pinching the skin. Let go and if it falls back into place at once he is OK. If it remains raised or falls slolwy back then he is dehydrated and you should start getting extra liquid into him quickly and regularly, using a needleless syringe. Canned pumpkin can be good to firm him up, but only use the sugarless variety. Add a tablespoonfull to each meal.

Buy Desitin diaper rash cream..That worked wonders for my kitty Benjamin's sore behind..It was instant relief for him.  It got all over everything in my house but as long as it helped I was fine.  I hope your kitty feels better soon..I wonder if he got some kind of parasite from the two newbies .  I am a pretty new cat mom but have learned quickly that these parasites are a beast! I am still trying to get my kitties right.   I found a tapeworm segment yesterday and had nightmares last night..I can't quit thinking about it..So gross!!

It means your kitten needs to go to the vet. Something is irritated along the digestive tract and you can't tell how serious it is.

What did the vet say? Is your kitten getting better now?
