I know it's been a while since posting about the bit of issues and concerns with my baby, Frannie. When she first came to us in a trial period she was hacking and wheezing and the gal from where I was going through to adopt her said it was more than likely a furball issue, but in giving mineral oil and pumpkin puree in her food, it was not doing anything for a furball issue. After continuing to be on the gal about it she finally took her to the vet they take them to and was diagnosed with a bronchial infection. Since I've officially adopted her in July, I've had to take her in about every month or just over a month or so. I felt like I was getting no where with my questions and concerns and was always prescribed some kind of medication to take care of the issue.The one time she was given a shot (steroid) and that had helped tremendously! I had to take her in last week when it started AGAIN! Xrays taken, but I didn't see them nor did he come in and talk with me about them. I had asked about it possibly being asthma and he didn't seem concerned about it and pretty much ruled it out. Was having issues giving the two medications to her (Theophylline for bronchial issue and Zidovudine the FIV issue since she was diagnosed FIV+). I had finally gotten in touch with a different vet's office that a friend of mine takes her furbabies to and upon talking to them and then going into the visit, I'm in LOVE with the place and will be going to them. I was able to get her in yesterday a few hours later after calling them. Since Frannie was a new patient there, I had to fill out paperwork and we were able to go back to a room so she was able to come out of the carrier and they had treats for both her AND for me (a sucker). The vet is AWESOME and shook both my hand and my mom's as well when he first came into the room. He took the time to answer any and all questions and listen to any concerns I had about what was going on. He had xrays done, but their radiologist wasn't in yesterday, but was today. But we did go over them a bit and he thinks it is more likely an asthma issue more than anything else. Today the radiologist looked at the xrays and it does look to be asthma, which the previous vet didn't seem concerned it being something like that. The vet wasn't familiar with the FIV medication that was prescribed and he looked it up to get information and when he PERSONALLY called me to see how Frannie was doing and to give findings of the xrays! I GOT SOME ANSWERS ON WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE!!! To top it off, come to find out is that she also has TAPEWORM, which was NOT caught by the previous vet!! So needless to say, the medications are now NOT given to her and was able to dispose of them!!! YAY!!! I'm FINALLY getting somewhere!! He wanted to see her again a few days later so we go in on Friday so he can see her! I feel so comfortable there and the people are all great! I have found my new place to take her. I'm glad I have the care credit credit card because if I didn't, I would NOT have been able to try and figure out what is going on. I know I feel I'm missing something, but that is pretty much the highlights of what is going on and I hope I made sense.
