My cat Oreo is in her third heat cycle. 1st time she was very affectionate and was loud and was rubbing everything, second time in heat, she was affectionate and was trying to hump people and things, this time, she is very aggressive. she has came up to me more than once and has attacked me. growling and hissing and clawing. she has torn my hands and arms wide open. almost severe scratches that are very deep open wounds. she is now spraying and she attacked my other cats. she has also been shredding things.she has never acted like this before. she is a yr old. i had to throw a hoodie over her and carry her to the crate and force her in it while the whole time she is clawing, biting and hissing. i now have to keep her in the crate with the exception of letting her out long enuff to use litter box and to eat and drink. is this normal normal behavior?shes been in heat for 4 days already. i never had a female in heat be aggressive. my other female is quiet and prefers to run into the crate to get away from everyone when she is in heat.

It sounds like the best choice would be to spay her. She sounds miserable and uncomfortable.

Yes, do get her spayed. Heat cycles are brutal on cats. Hormones raging and what concerns me about yours specifically is that she's cycled 3 times. Has she had kittens? I am wondering if she might be in pain. Have you noticed if she's having any discharge or anything?  I don't know if you have a separate room or closet, maybe a bathroom, you can keep her in besides the crate, if its too small to hold a litterpan, water and food, I don't advise that you keep her there.

she isnt passing discharge as far as i know. she has never had kittens and has never been mated with. she doesnt go outside either.  i tried to keep her in a room separate from the other cats but she howls and cries.  my house is small and the only door i have is to my bathroom. she will run straight into the crate tho for peace. its a pretty good sized crate. she calms straight down and lays down to sleep in it. i cover it with a thin blanket becuz my male will be agitated if i dont. i have a male cat that has been her companion since they have been kittens but he is outside during the day and at night she is in the crate when i bring him in. . ive had her since she was very young. she was only a few weeks old when she was found. she is normally a very calm cat. she likes to suck and chew on my hands tho due to being abandoned by her mother so young. after the incident, i let her out and she was very calm and wanted to lay next to me. no issues since then. my other female cat  who is around 2 or 3 yrs old had kittens 8 weeks ago and has been trying to comfort Oreo. i had both Oreo and my male out at the same time, supervised, and he didnt pay any attention to her and she just slept beside me. when the kittens were born, she helped my other female deliver them and has been kinda acting as a second mom to the kittens. i wonder if its added hormones from where shes been around the kittens the past 8 weeks  that are causing this? when the kittens were born all she did was roll around, purr ,and chirp. and she had never been in heat until they were born. she a few times attempted to try to nurse the kittens even tho she has never had kittens or been pregnant or anything.  i do plan to get her fixed becuz of the aggression. ive just never known aggression to be in females like that.
