Question of the Day - Tuesday, November 3

Happy First Tuesday of November! 

What is an annoying untrue first assumption/impression people tend to make about you?

Sometimes people tend to think I am either dumb or naive/innocent, or both together. It can be pretty frustrating!  And definitely not what I am!

It depends on when they meet me lol.

I think either that I'm very outgoing (not really true, I push myself to be when I need to) or, I'm a stand-offish and a curmudgeon (possibly true ). 

Because I am hearing impaired, I must be dumb and unable to hear a single thing and they have to sign (if they know it).

I don't know sign language.. I can hear perfectly fine!

That must be incredibly frustrating! 

People think I'm stuck-up and that I think I'm better than everybody else. But it couldn't be further from the truth. What I am is incredibly shy until I get to know you. But then....look out. 

that's a very good question! and i honestly have no idea.

i've never really approached things the ways most people do. i don't follow most people's idea of how i should look (clothing, make up, etc), and i think i simply don't think like many/most people do. i definitely 'march to the beat of a different drum', and i think some/many people really don't know what to think of me until (and, if) they get to know me.

People think that I can't understand or speak to them. I guess there aren't that many non-Japanese people who speak Japanese, so I can get why they think that. It's quite funny when you get school kids sitting across from you on a bus or train having a conversation about where you must be from or what you're wearing, thinking you don't understand a word of it.

The most annoying is when I go to a restaurant with my husband and the waiter asks him what I want to eat. I can read the menu and decide by myself!

  I was thinking the same thing. 

People think that because I am thin, I must not eat much.  I actually just have a very high metabolism and eat all the time!  I had a Hungry Man meal today for lunch in the office, and all my coworkers were laughing about it (not in a mean way)
