Hello, 3 weeks ago we lost our 4yr old cat to cancer. 10 days later "my other cat" that I raised and bottlefed but had a strong hate for my husband so lived with my parents suddenly died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at the age of 7. Now 10 days later my other cat at home is now getting sick and I can't take much more of this.

This cat is 5. Now maybe I'm overreacting because of my recent losses, but his vomiting is eerily similar to my cat that just died of cancer. Granted the one that passed away had MULTIPLE symptoms and vomiting started at the end. He has only been vomiting for 2 days so far. He throws up all his food and then continue to vomit yellow bile, as well as clear vomit with foam in it. He continues to pee and he did poop this morning so thankfully he is not blocked. He is not bloated, is not crying in pain when being picked up, still has his appetite though! He has vomited 10 times yesterday alone. He is usually quite social but is prefering to be by himself more and lays around more. Based on the last cat they said if it hits day 3 then bring him in so if this is still happening tomorrow I will be going to the vets office first thing! He had no access to Halloween candy, we searched the whole house for anything he can get into and can't find anything, no plants, no strings etc. The cat that passed and this cat were separated in the house due to the behavioural issues the sick cat displayed so I don't think he is depressed as they hadn't seen each other since September anyway and Meeko didn't seem to notice the other cat was gone.

Is there anyone that can calm my nerves? Could he just have a bug or something that is working out of his system? Now I'm a nervous wreck as I never expected to lose 1 cat young, let alone 2, and now with a 3rd one sick this is getting scary..

I'm sorry for all you are going through and wish I could offer some good solid comfort, but unfortunately, I don't know why your cat is vomiting, or if he will be okay.  Loving an animal doesn't mean we are guaranteed forever with them... whether we have them 2 years, or 20 years, its never enough... we just have to love them every day we have them.  If his biggest thing is vomitting though, and his appetite is still good, I would relax, and go to the vet to see what they say.  It could be a bug, is he long haired, here where I live winter coats are coming in and my cat has been having hairballs... Also, Snowy has a very sensitive stomache and even food she has been eating for a while can sometimes cause her upset.

I guess the only thing I can add at this point is this; just as we should not take life for granted, we must not see death in every shadow... life is fleeting at best, but take each day as it comes, love while you are able, laugh when you can, cry if you must and then take the next step.

I'm sorry that you're going through this.  I'm sure some of it is caused by stress.  The resident cat you have has picked up on the loss of the other kitty as well as your stress from the 2 deaths of the cats.  If you can find one or two, get some Feliway diffusers to help your kitty de-stress and see if that helps some.  Then, get your kitty to the vet for something to help settle his tummy and to make sure there's nothing going on.  Stop feeding whatever he's been eating and put him on something else that is gentle on his tummy, maybe some plain boiled chicken or a canned duck & pea food.  I think you've got a condition aggravated by stress.  Our kitties are very in tune with us and can sense when we're upset.  They will pick that up and take it on and that can affect their health as well.

We will be taking him in tomorrow. He vomited all his food again this morning. And now he's stopped eating period and is just laying around :(

What did the vet say?  My next thought is a blockage of some sort.

I took him in this morning, along with my 1 other cat who also just started vomiting now too and won't eat. They ran bloodwork, everything was ok. They aren't blocked either. They are treating it as viral with anti nausea nt and an appetite stimulant to get them back on track and fluid therapy for dehydration.
We will reassess in 2-3 days. Both of them still refused to eat tonight unfortunately. Hopefully tomorrow they will start to eat

If they both are displaying the same symptoms and you're feeding them the same thing, I'd change their food to something that has just one protein source in it to see if that helps.  It could be the food.  The manufacturer may have changed the formula or source of ingredients and that may be upsetting their tummy.

They are actually on different foods. One of them had urinary issues in the past so he is on a different wet and dry food than the other. So we were at least able to eliminate that as a cause.
Now they did both get 2 Temptations cat treats each night and I started searching online and finding alot of people talking about their cats vomiting, getting severely ill and some even claiming it killed their cats. We just got a pack 2 weeks ago... I am throwing them out.
Despite an appetite stimulant their appetites have made minimal improvement. Meeko has eaten maybe 30 little pieces of dry food and Jerry ate maybe 15 over the whole day. They will not touch their wet food I tried a few different kinds, different dishes, different temperatures and neither is interested.
They continue to lie around, however they are sticking to me like glue and lay with me when I sit down and purr. They are purring louder and more frequently which I thought meant good but now hear they sometimes purr when I'll or in pain.
I have to call the vet tomorrow to check in and update how they are. I have a feeling we will be going back in. This is some virus if that's what it is, but I'm going to bring up the Temptations treats thing too

Aftet bloodwork, iv fluids, cerenia injections, appetite stimulants, syringe feeding we have brought them home finally.
It is a virus that has attacked their livers. My cat that died 3 weeks ago also had this, however he had cancer ad well and his immune system just couldn't fight and they feel the virus is what ultimately did him in.
We are hoping we caught it early enough and these interventions will keep our other 2 cats with us and get back to health. It has been an emotional charged, stressful and expensive Month and I really hope we are heading back in the right direction.
They still won't eat but at least thy are getting some nutrition.
