Hello. I have a female that I have had in my house for about a month due to illness and spaying. She is finally ready to be released but I am worried about reintoducing her into her colony after such a long time and since her trap the weather has already gotten cold and she has been in a warm house. Do I need to acclimate her to the cold weather and how ? And will she have any issue with her colony cause its been so long.

I could really use some advise.. Thank you

Is there a chance since you have had her inside for a month that you could keep her inside or that she would be adoptable?  That might be your best solution.

Feral cats can take a long time to adapt, but it is possible. What is she doing that makes you feel like she needs to go back out? Maybe we can help with some adaptation techniques.

Barring that....I'm afraid I don't have a lot of experience releasing cats. All the ones I've taken in have turned into lazy housecats. I do have one feral I'm feeding right now who I will attempt to trap soon and get her spayed. I will most likely release her as well. So if anyone chimes in with helpful advice for you in this situation (and I hope they do) I'll be paying attention, too.
