In the Catholic Church Nov 1 is "All Saint's Day", Nov 2nd is "All Souls Day", which is for our friends and relatives who have checked out.  Lets make Nov 3rd  "All Cats Day" and remember the cats we had that have crossed the bridge.

Cats of my family who crossed the bridge:

Silky

Cricket

Sasquatch

Shamrock

Cinnamon

Mitsy

And a dog my mom had in the late 40's  Chiefie

In 62 years, there have been so very many.  But the ones that owned me most completely:

Squeaky Mae (my first cat.  I was 3)

Gray (actually A. T. Kittycat Thomson, Junior...I named him when I was 7)

Ophelia

OJ  (Short for Orange Julius)

Primus

Belladonna (the folk name was Witch Berry, so she was Berry for short)

In my 50 plus years of enjoying cats, mine are also too many to list, but the ones that occupy the biggest share of my heart include; Chrissy (my soul mate), Jerry, Hobo, Mama, Miss Muffet (my very first cat), Little Burt, and Old Timey. I can't help but include also the most recent, cats that were strays and we took in, they suffered so much in spite of all we did to save them, Little Mama and her 6 week old litter, Buff, Spot, Princess, and Little Russell, may they all rest in peace. My heart aches so much when I think of the loss, but I would never want to have not known and loved them, they all enriched my life in so many ways. May God take pity on these precious souls and watch over them for eternity.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention Bethany, a tiny scrap of a Siamese kitten who showed up screaming on my doorstep on cold November night.  Like you, I struggled to save her, but she was just too starved.  The vet said that she would have had some neurological problems even if we had saved her.  I comfort myself that she left this world knowing warmth, and a full tummy, and kind hands and soft voices.  Sometimes that's all we can do for them.  I believe that animals go to heaven, just as we do.  And that Baby Kitty will know me there.

A lovely idea.  I've had many cats that crossed the bridge, and no matter how long they lived, they were gone too soon.  I know I'll see them again on the other side.

Remembering my beautiful, sweet Rizzo.  Glad you are having fun on the other side.  Wish you were here with me.
