There are a lot of sudden health issues going on with my poor 11 years siamese and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these or all of these issues.

Sometime earlier this year, my cat developed asthma for no reason. We have ruled everything out and recently switched wet food brands to see if it is an allergy. She has to have wet food because she has so few teeth. It is not the litter, we do not smoke, use air freshener or fragrance etc. I am 7months pregnant so I have been hyper aware of what is used in my house. All natural cleaners too. We have two germ guardian air purifiers on all day.

The vet tried steroids, but it brought up an old upper respiratory infection my cat contacted from  vet's office in Vegas. Those are out.

She tried cerennia (which is for dogs) and it helped with the coughing and an oral bronchodilator, but two weeks later she now has a heart arrhythmia. I know it was from the meds as she has had zero heart issues, but the vet wants us stop them and to start heart testing as well as lung biopsies, x rays (again), going to an internist ect. I don't even know where to begin. And on top of this, for the last 4 weeks she is losing weight despite eating.

All blood work and urine tests are perfect. Her lungs are clear. She is pretty active still otherwise.

The BIG problem is even with all of the testing to possible see what is going on, she can't tolerate any of the treatment meds so I just don't see the point of putting her through this as well as paying thousands to determine a cause when there is no treatment.

The household has little stress despite the growing family.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

My first thought is that you seem very sure her heart problems is from the medication, where as I'm thinking that eventhough her heart _seemed_ fine before, she did develope asthma before this. Asthma can share sympthoms with some heart conditions, allthough the heart condition dont show up untill later. I been through that myself. In our case the cat was allready quite old, but lived for several years on heart medication. So given my own experience, Id definately look into this. You havent tried heart medication before and she might handle them very well. Steroids knocks down the immune system, and can not be compared.

Id ask for xrays and ultrasounds to start with. The biobsies would be the most invading procedure, so Id wait with that as long as I could. Youre lucky though, that have a vet that seems eager and determined to help find the real issue here!

Good luck :)
