Hiya

My cat has given birth today (about 12pm - 3pm) she seems very happy - purring away and nursing her kittens. However I've just stroked her and her tummy still feels a little hard and lumpy, is this normal? Like I said she seems very happy in herself - she is the sort of cat that if she isn't happy you can really tell (ie hiding and not purring), she has no discharge or bleeding so I am hesitent to stress her and the kittens out by taking them to the vet right now (its about 5pm same day). But like i said her tummy just doesn't feel quite right! any one have any experience of this and should I be taking her to vets right now?

Thanks so much :)

It is normal for the uterus to be stretched from carrying kittens. Did she have a placenta for each kitten?

Also, do you plan to have her spayed?

As far as I know yes - although I did miss one of them being born!

Absolutely - as soon as we can :) so hopefully when the vet says it's safe we will take her in!

I wouldn't worry unless she seems to be in distress. Post pictures when you can!

I agree, do be observant, but its probably fully normal swellings...

Even it it is one kitten left, its essentially the same receipt:  observe, but as long as she is OK, you dont need to panic - it will come when its time comes.
