My sweet old girl, (my avi) Missy, who was my best friend for 18+ years finally crossed the rainbow bridge on October 20th.  It was her time, and I was there with her at the vet's office.

She was supposed to be a gift for my 5 year old niece back in 1997.  I brought her home, and my niece squealed with joy.  Unfortunately for my niece, Missy had already made her choice and it was me.  Missy slept on my bed every day and night.  She would crawl on my pillow and we would cuddle every morning.  I loved that girl so much.

Even the last night, when she was having trouble breathing, she still crawled up to be with me.

I was so heartbroken.  My house is so quiet.  My bed is so empty.

On Wednesday night, I went to the vet's to pick up her ashes.  I was talking with the vet tech and the receptionists about my life with Missy, and all of a sudden one said look outside.  We rushed to the door.  It was a beautiful rainbow.  A full vibrant arch.  We all started crying because we realized it was Missy coming to the edge of the bridge to say goodbye.

The rainbow became a full double rainbow.  It was like nothing I've ever seen before.  The whole way home, I was able to see it in all its glory.  Here is a picture a took when I pulled over to look at it.

This gave me peace and closure.  I know my girl is running and playing and pain free.

I am so sorry for your loss, it's heartbreaking for sure and I understand what you're going through right now.

That emptiness, the quietness and sadness that's all what I've felt too when my girls passed away.

Beautiful rainbow pic, your baby telling you she's okay....please take care...

To lose a loved one is so heartbreaking, only those who have been there truly know  the pain. To receive a sign from that loved one is a miracle and a much needed gift to start the healing process of a broken heart. I have no doubt what so ever that your Missy sent you this sign, many are more subtle, my Chrissy sent a falling star when I looked to the heavens with such pain. Some come in dreams, some come on the breeze of a summer night. My heart goes out to you, please accept my condolence. Thank you for sharing your experience, and for giving many of us  confirmation that our loved ones are with us in spirit. We desperately miss their physical presence, but hold them dear in our loving hearts forever. RIP dear Missy, the heavens gained another beautiful angel, please comfort those that loved you with their precious memories!

I am truly sorry for your loss.
Missy sure sounded like a special kitty. I understand completely about your house and bed feeling empty. It leaves an empty hole in our lives and hearts when our precious kitties must leave us. They take a huge piece of our hearts with them.
You gave a wonderful tribute to your sweet kitty!
Missy would be both honored and proud!
RIP Sweet Missy!
You were so greatly loved and will always be missed!

Thanks everyone.  I truly believe it was a sign from my girl.  I miss her.  I was calling out to my cat, Spot, but I called Missy. :(  And today I called him a good girl.

I think he is lonely, but I'm about to get a knee replacement so I can't get another kitty right now.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I found your thread late.  She was a beautiful girl, and sent you a beautiful message.

I am sorry, after so many years they become ingrained in everything you do, that emptiness when you expect them to be there and they aren't; is excruciating. Find comfort in the fact that you gave her a wonderful happy and safe life for the time she was with you. It is apparent that she now intends to look over and after you.
