My cat, Opah, recently gave birth to a black kitten about more than a week ago. Then I found out the mother is still pregnant with another one. Is it normal? If it is, why does the black kitten come out earlier? Thanks!

It's normal. Cats mate multiple times with different males during their heat cycle, which means her kittens can be conceived a week apart, and therefore not quite ready to be born. She'll give birth again before long!

How long has it been since she had the first one? Can you see the other kitten moving inside her?

Yeah, as SARthur said.  They can even have two different litters, and with a little luck deliver them perhaps 3 weeks apart, and everyone healthy.

My ex-neigbour has a cat from such a second litter.

So, if she mommy is OK, no troubles, etc, its just wait and see, and take it as a new period of high preg.
