Today we arrived home from a gospel singing to find Peebo age 9 on the concrete driveway unable to move

He was looking at us so I got out of the car to see about him and he was bloody and could not stand up

one leg was mangled and bitten badly and bloody and his tummy looked bruised

He weighed 24 pounds so I am sure he could not outrun coyotes or even one coyote..

I loaded him and drove 15 miles to the vet and I had to make a decision and I euthanized him

as the vet said he was going into shock , labored breathing and internally bruised just looking at him

for 3 minutes..and a mangled leg..

he also had arthritis and the last two years had difficulty getting up and down off the floor...

I said goodbye and kissed him on the forehead ..he died peacefully with a loving vet by his side

Brought him home and we buried him in our pet cemetary on a wooded hill at our rural home..

in Alabama..

this summer we also lost Leo our other male cat to a ratttlesnake bite..he died on the way to the vet.

This has been me so sick I feel traumatized myself..and the last cat we have witnessed the attack

on Peebo today and it took us 45 minutes to find him in the woods hiding in fear..

Appreciate any prayers you have for my husband and I tonight and also Bro, the cat that survived today

and hid in the woods ...

I am sorry for all on here that lose their cats..and other pets..

It is hard to come to this forum but we all have to one day...

thank you

SheriT for Peebo

I'm so very sorry for the loss you have suffered, the house and the heart are so empty for a long time. We would never allow our little ones to suffer for one more minute then they have to, I know that Peebo trusted you to end his. Terrible things happen to treasured family members, we will never know why something that is so loved, is taken from us. I will definitely pray for all of you, for  Peebo and Leo to safely reside at the Rainbow Bridge, together at last forever, and for Bro to find comfort in his loving family, I pray You find comfort in your precious memories of happier times, and try not to dwell on something that was beyond your control. Take care....... RIP sweet Peebo, you will forever be held in a loving heart!

You and your furbabies, both those in body and those in spirit, are in my thoughts and prayers.

Di and Bob

thank you ...I  literally had a moment that  God spoke to me today in the quiet

through the holy spirit and Christ..and he told me who the dog belonged to

and we went to see the man who was at our church cutting down a tree

I asked him to come sit down and I took his hand and said I am saying this in christian love

and then I told him that his dog was in my yard this morning perhaps looking to kill Bro

the other cat he did not get or get my fawns...and he said was it my dog and I said yes.

it was not coyotes as  I had thought yesterday when I found Peebo torn to pieces

and had him euthanzied..due to his age and his health issues..I did not decide

to try to save him...although the vet would have tried..and wanted to see what he could

do first...

I asked him to euthanize his dog or take care of the situation and let me know when he did

and he said I will..I hugged him and said I am sorry to tell you this..

and he hugged me back..we go to church together..near here

so it has been traumatic...and will be hard for some time.

Thank you for caring and all others that respond...to my post on Peebo.

Last night Bro the other cat that saw the attack ..he has never slept with me

but he slept with me all  night..he needed some security...last night.

he is my husbands cat mostly...I lost Peebo to the dog attack and Leo to the rattlesnake

attack this summer so I feel totally alone...with my 2 gone in 5 months time,

thank you all for your kindness

You are so welcome. Continued prayers for all three of you. I know its been a rough year for many reasons. It also took strength to talk to the man who owned the dog, but we know where that strength comes from. I'm glad to hear bro slept w/ you guys, I'm sure he was comforted by that.
Thoughts and prayers for you.
Love you too,
Kelly

Hi Kelley and Angel

I know Jesus walked with and inside me to go talk to the owner of the dog in kindness and love

It was something I could not have done otherwise...

Bro is missing his brother so much, today and last night..

We have not heard from the man if he took care of the dog situation or not..

What makes you so frustrated are  the humans who allow such dogs to run

loose knowing they will kill other dogs, deer or cats..pets.

Each ought to neuter , give shots and keep a large pen for animals

but I bet only 20 percent in the world do so..

Worse is to see someone tie a dog to a tree, what cruelty..

I know they have money to buy fencing one time and build a good size running

area for their dog or cat and top fence it also...

people  can afford cigarettes, beer, get manicures and pedicures, hobbys,

phone money, and computer money, and junk food then they can take care

of an animal, and they will not.

I would take care of my animal first, at the top of my list budgeting for that animals welfare

I feel frustrated but eventually  I will feel the joy of Jesus that lives in me again.

Thanks so much,

love to you and Angel..

Sadly, that is so true of many animal "owners."  I think people like that have their pets for selfish reasons. I put Angel first too.

Even in other ways, like my sister & her family. They do take car of their dogs. (but)  They have a yellow lab & a maltese. They have a back yard to run around in & play, but they never get walked.

Sad.

Hugs,

Kelly

To Kelley and to Di and all that expressed sympathy for us...

The man has not contacted me and we have to take our remaining cat Bro out in the yard

for a few minutes once a day..he was used to being outside all day and loved it for 8 years.

Bro is traumatized and he is going to the spot the attack by the dog on Peebo happened

and he looks toward the barn for where the dog came from the woods that day when

he saw it happen..

I had read of animals in mourning but with all the cats I have had I never saw one in grief

like my one remaining pet is ..Bro..

Bro came here as a stray and we neutered and gave him shots at the vet and took him in 8 years ago

he grew up with a 19 year old yard cat Miss Kitty and also Peebo ..who was just attacked and euthanized

this week, then he had little Leo to be a brother also among them for almost 5 years.

So Bro is totally alone now..in the house and not used to any of these changes..

He is up all night and keeping us awake too..

I just hope the man will do the right thing and take care of his dogs ..he knew that they killed cats..

I had no idea it was his coming through the woods a mile away the last few years chasing tiny deer

to kill and animals and cats..I saw them and had no idea they were his...thought they were all the neighbors

who I had problems with also..for years...

Thanks for caring...I really appreciate it so so much..

My heart is heavy and crying still but it has to get better..

with love from Sheri, Larry  and Bro/our remaining cat

Hi Sheri,

Have you guys thought about building an enclosure for Bro? As far as cost, I think you could probably do it  where it's not too expensive. Like maybe just some 2x4's for the frame work, (sometimes lumber yards will give you left over scraps, or irregular pieces.)  & then some chicken wire.

You might even be able to find some materials at a local Habitat. Some shelves to climb on, or create a type of cat tree inside. Even some old tree stumps to climb up on. To keep the cost down, it wouldn't have to be that big. Even a 12x12 would be a nice space for him to be in. This way, he can enjoy being outside in the fresh air, but safe.

Just a suggestion that I thought might give you peace of mind, & Bro would still get to enjoy the outdoors like he is used to w/out you having to watch over him the whole time. It may make him feel safer too.
