Nala is going to get her booster shots and check up! I'm excited to see how much she weighs now. The very first time, shortly after we found her, she weighed a teeny, tiny 10 ounces! Not even a pound! The next time I took her in for her initial immunizations she was up to 1 pound 2 ounces. I'm guessing she has to be getting close to 2 pounds now! She did fine with shots last time, she just didn't like having blood drawn but it was necessary so she could be tested for all those bad diseases. Luckily, she got a clean bill of health. I hope she does fine today. I'm concerned that she still eagerly takes her bottle, today is her 7 week birthday! She only takes solid food if I hand feed her. She does not consume very much food at all. Is it because her tummy is still pretty tiny? She doesn't clean herself very well at all yet. She's still quite clingy though she's on the floor playing independently at the moment, she still likes to know I'm close by. When can she be spayed? Is it cruel to have her declawed? I actually do not care if she is not declawed but she hasn't really scratched any furniture, just people. Lol. I feel like a nervous Mom and I have people telling me "it's just a cat". Try feeding her canned kitten food mixed in with some plain meat baby food and/or KMR.  She's still a bit too young for solid dry food.

I got Patches when he was about 3 weeks old.  It took him a while to figure out how to clean himself and how to claw things properly.  When they are separated from their mothers to soon they don't learn those things from mom cat.  She will figure things out.  Another lady that I used to work with kept him for a week before I took him.  She was a little too rough cleaning him and rubbed the little bit of fur off of his nose, it did grow back though.

[emoji]128532[/emoji] Well, the good news at the vet, Nala weighs 1 pound 15 ounces so just barely under 2 pounds! Shes grown. She didn't cry or struggle when she got her shot so I guess that's good. Her stool sample tested negative for any parasites, also good news. The bad news: She hissed at her doctor! So the vet tells me that she is not "socialized"! [emoji]128542[/emoji] She said she needs to start being exposed to new people and other animals otherwise she's going to just be a rotten kitten? The vet also said I must wean her by next week. I will try the baby food meat mixed with her kitten food, she said she should be eating more than she does. She still really likes her bottle. [emoji]127868[/emoji] I know my fiancé wouldn't go for me having another kitten, he barely tolerates her. I let my kids, age 17 & 19 hold her so she interacts with them. (She's bitey and scratchy with them & they hiss at her!) I was kinda embarrassed when she hissed at the vet, kinda like when your child throws a tantrum at the store. Lol.

It is true that kittens need to be socialized, there is a narrow window for it when they are still young.  I wouldn't take her hissing at the vet's to be a sign that she isn't being socialized.  Kitties don't like going to or being at the vet's.  Not only because it is a different place but also all the different smells.  One of my  kitties has hissed at the vet's and she always hisses at the vet smell on my other one when I bring him back from the vets.

Nala Ava Marie goes to the vet again tomorrow. For last shot in her first series of shots. Is it normal to have initial immunization and then 2 booster shots? We're making predictions on her weight now! Im guessing she's up to 2 pounds, 15 ounces. My fiancé is guessing 3 pounds, 2 ounces and my daughter's guesstimate is 2 pounds, 8 ounces! She is 10 weeks old tomorrow! Hopefully she's an angelic little kitten!

The three shot series is normal for kittens.  It has to do with the immunity they got from their mom interfering with the vaccine.  The initial vaccines are kind of a stop gap to bolster the inherited immunity.  The last one that is given is after the inherited immunity is gone and will have full effect.

Once again, she was not a polite little kitten at the vet. Her weight is now 3 pounds, 3 ounces. They think she's a brat. The vet said I've created a little monster by not disciplining her. [emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji] I scold her when she bites and scratches..... I just will not hurt her. She trusts me.

I always get a good laugh when people talk about  'disciplining' a cat.  You can redirect but that is about it.  One of my kitties was bad with the biting when he was a kitten and he was one that was orphaned when he was about 3 weeks old.  I think bite inhibition is something they learn from their litter mates and mom cat.  Of course I wouldn't just let him have at it on my hands.  I would keep giving him a toy to chew on rather than my hand but a lot of it was just outgrowing it which he did fairly quickly.

Nala Ava Marie was a bottle baby up until a couple of weeks ago. Admittedly she's not very social. She's only around me regularly, my fiancé some bc he works a lot and his 14 year old son whom mostly lives with his Mother. My kids are in their late teens and don't come over all that often. That's the extent of her human interaction. I baby her some, when she allows it but I try not to smother her. Since being weaned, she's exploring more and becoming more independent. I hope she outgrows this biting phase. I'd love to rescue another kitten/cat but im lucky my fiancé barely tolerates her. I buy her good quality food, toys, Kitten Attract litter, take her to vet that specifically sees only cats. She has her own rooms, blankets, 3 litter boxes. Am I spoiling her? I offer her a toy when she starts attacking my hand, I don't allow anyone to play roughly with her. The vet suggested flicking her nose but idk if I can do that. She's so stinking cute!

I don't think you can ever spoil a cat too much.  However, if you're really concerned about her socialization and you can afford it and your family is on board, getting another cat will help.  Nala will learn proper socialization from the other kitty.
