I'm not sure this is the right forum or not, if it's not please feel free to move it to the correct forum for me.

We have a cat tree that we got back at Christmas last year for our cats Luna & Midnight. Midnight will have coughing fits when he's on the cat tree. We rush over to him, get him down and he stops coughing right away. This doesn't happen every single time he's on the tree, but it happens a lot of the time. He doesn't have coughing fits at any other time.

We adopted Stella back in August. Now she's beginning to become interested in the cat tree. The same thing is happening to her. Again it doesn't happen every single time she gets on there, but a lot of the times. She'll start coughing, we rush over to her get her down and she stops coughing right away. Just like Midnight. Just like Midnight, Stella's never had coughing fits anywhere else.

Now Luna gets on the cat tree all the time and she has never once had a coughing fit while on it.

It's just a regular cat tree, nothing different or special about it. Has this happened to anyone else's cats on here? If so what did you do about it?

We will get rid of the cat tree if we have to, we don't want to because the cats love it. We were hoping there was another solution to this problem.

Such a cute picture!! Honestly, this is SO odd and I really don't have an answer or even an idea as to why Midnight and now, Stella, coughs only on this tree. I know you have mentioned in the past, I think, about Midnight possibly having allergies or sensitivity to food? Maybe he is slightly allergic to something in the tree? I know you cleaned it and vacuumed it. I would just keep up with the vacuuming of that tree often and see if you notice any improvement. I would not really be too overly concerned at this point since the cats are only coughing ON that tree and no where else. That is a good sign, I think.

I have multiple cat trees and some are carpeted too. I have never encountered any of them causing coughing in my cats, anyway!!! Let's see if other's have anything to suggest! :cross:
