Hi everyone. I have always had kitties in my life recently my cat Noodle disappeared. I was devastated. I am living with my parents who have 2 senior kitties 15 and 16 years old. They're nice but I believe it's time for a love of my own. I am moving soon and am allowed pets at my new place(wouldn't have it any other way). Is it better to adopt from a kitty adoption agency or an individual? Adoption agency I want all and they're in cages, individual can I trust them an what has the cat been through?

I can share with you that I just got my kitty, Zeus, from an individual for $50 that claimed he was a Russian Blue. They had no papers, not even paperwork proving what shots he has had.

While I now know that it is illegal to to sell a cat in state of Florida without paperwork signed by a licensed vet I was unaware at the time.

My kitty was very sick and I am grateful, as I am sure he is too, that I bought him when I did as I may have saved his little life!
My advice to you  is to make sure the seller has proof of treatments (like worming) and shots from a licensed vet.

I personally like to adopt from shelters as it is often very difficult for those kitties to find homes and they are often not great conditions for a cat to be in for very long. If you do adopt from a shelter, many have agreements with local vets for the adoption fees to cover a spay or neuter. Also, most shelters will provide initial shots and deworming as part of the fee and you will receive the paperwork for this. We have also found that with several of the shelters in our area they will send you home with additional medications for some of the less common parasites since these are common in the shelter setting. We have had good luck with our local shelters.

Well thank you both for your responses I will take them into consideration in my adoption. And Zeus is very cute.
