Does any one have any experience with using clicker training with a cat/kitten?  I'm interested in trying it out with our little one, Zelda, but was wondering if anyone could recommend some good resources to learn from.  I do have a small book "Cat Training in 10 Minutes", but was wondering if anyone else had any resources that were helpful - especially along the lines of youtube videos, etc.

Thanks all!

Oh wow!  This is awesome and just what I was looking for, thank you so much!  How old was your kitty when you started the training?

She was about ten weeks old :) But I also worked a bit with my senior cat, and eventhough he is slightly more stubborn (demands more treats faster), he does quite well. So its never too late !

Awesome, thanks again!  Zelda is still very young - young enough that we still don't have her home with us yet, but she should be 10-12 weeks once we've got her.  It's good to hear you can basically start right away!

I did clicker training with my brothers cat. My own cat is trained without a clicker though. She is too smart to use a clicker on. Cause then I always need to have the clicker for her to do what I want her to. Or she doesn't listen. So mostly I use food she currently knows sit, down, treats, crawl, paw, other paw and kisses. I make her sit everyday for her food. When I got her at just 8 weeks I would put her in a sit before I put the food down. Now she will listen even if I don't have food most of the time. Now that she knows other tricks I make her do something else each time she gets her breakfast and dinner. Also without a clicker its easier to train a cat with an active vocabulary. Because she knows so many words she doesn't need a clicker. I think clickers are good if you need to teach two step tricks like fetching or opening and closing things so the kit knows she's on the right track
