Hi there! It's me again... :wavey:

Last month I posted on here about some problems my cat (Bendel) was having. I think we got it all sorted out, or at least, he was diagnosed with an allergic reaction to fleas at any rate and was treated.

Now, however, he is having some problems with diarrhea - I am wondering if there are any things that I could treat him with for a couple of days before taking him to the vet? I would really like to try pumpkin, but Bendel would have nothing to do with it!

Also, if anyone has a cat or cats that have allergy problems from allergens outdoors, what are some of the symptoms? Just exploring some possibilities!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice/suggestions!

Boil chicken with rice. Also, the broth of it might be appealing to Bendell, remember diarrhea can cause dehydration which is very dangerous. Good luck!

They sell pet anti-diarrhea medicine at Petco. It looks just like pepto. Had to use it a few time on a cat who had bouts of diarrhea from time to time. We tried pumpkin but Snokie didn't like it. The pepto stuff worked after a day. Hope this helps. Oh and Smokie at it right up mixed in his wet food.

Thanks for the replies! I'm not sure what the cause of the diarrhea is - I wish it were something as simple as worms because that would be easy to diagnose and treat. However, I have seen no signs of worms - unless they don't always appear outside the body?

There have been little bits of blood mixed in (concerning, I know), but I also don't know if that is coming from some irritation on his bum. The good news is, is that he has not been vomiting or anything like that.

Any more thoughts?

Does Bendel have outdoor access? Any food changes?

Anytime blood is present I always worry about Giardia.

I really recommend taking Bendel to the vet and having them run an in-house fecal, as well as send out a sample for more sensitive testing (there are some parasites/protozoan that are too difficult or cannot be seen using the equipment at the vet clinic.)

I would test for Coccidia, Giardia, Tritrichomonas, Campylobacter, Cryptosporidium, and Clostridium.

He has had no changes in his diet and since being diagnosed with the flea allergy, I haven't been letting him outside anymore (although, my dad does let him out on the weekends).

For sure, if his condition doesn't improve by tomorrow, we will be making yet another trip to the vet. :(
