Ugh. I hate cleaning. I think I would hate it less if I didn't set off my allergies and asthma whenever I cleaned. I wear a mask, open windows, shower and use a neti pot after I clean, but I still have issues.

Every Fall I do a "big" Fall cleaning. I realize I should do a really big cleaning more then once I year, but it is hard enough to get that done for me.

I started a week ago and so far have the Breezeway, Kitchen (still have to clean out the inside of the freezer and fridge) and Dining Room done. I've even been replacing some curtains, throw rugs and some other really tired looking things as I've been going along this year.

The Living Room will be the worst to do and that is up next.

I've got a bit of a cold, so can't continue until I'm over it. I'm almost looking forward to doing the Living Room because I have all new curtains for that too and I can't wait to see how they all look up.

Anyone else doing a big Fall cleaning?

I have no choice Macha want a clean house, she's my big Boss!

In all seriousness, I like a clean house, usually I do big cleaning in Autumn and Spring time. I change thicker curtains in Autumn so I could save some money and Spring time I put the ordinary and cheaper curtains. I tried to organized everything as much as I coud, so i's easy for me to find things. I don't like cleaning the stove, very sticky but I have no choice lol

Not yet. I have off work on Veterans Day and I'll probably do some big cleaning then. I do like to have a clean house for the Christmas holidays, so will get it done. I just don't know when yet.

I used do a Spring and Fall big cleaning. However, I tried Laura Ingalls Wilder's advice from one of her newspaper columns from the 1920's (I think; it was in a book, not the original article). She lived on a farm with her husband.  She decided to do all of the Spring cleaning things bit by bit during the year, as she felt up to it. For example, along with her daily cleaning, she'd take down the curtains, and do those, instead of waiting until Spring. Later on, she'd do another annual task, and so on. I think this method is much better, and the house doesn't get out of order, etc. Some things, such as winterizing your house (we did that yesterday) have to be done according to the season, but most big tasks can be spread out during the year as you feel up to doing them. The trick is to keep your house clean by cleaning a bit each day. and maintaining it. Putting things back in their place each day keeps things from spiraling out of control.  Give it a major, top-to-bottom cleaning once, then make sure you maintain the clean by cleaning a bit each day and putting things back when you're done.  And that's easier said than done!

Generally, my house is clean/tidy, but there are things that get out of hand sometimes! LOL  I have a 'cleaning' list that I have been working on...slowly... but it is getting done! I do a little every day. Some of the things are daily or weekly stuff, but I do have a few 'major' things I do Spring and Fall. My daughter will be coming over for a few weekends/days off to help me do some of the 'bigger' things.
