Stray or lost cat came to my door last night. Super friendly, so I took it in for the night

Went to step outside and the cat tool off out my door. I go back to see where the cat was laying, and I saw black flecks. Put them on wet paper and sure enough, they turned red

The cat was in my home less than 12 hours. I have not seen any white eggs anywhere. How much do I have to worry about a possible flea infestation?

I have 2 other cats and we had a flea infestation before, but only because there was an active infestation when we moved in. Took care of that almost 3 years ago

It's hard to say......I would definitely throw anything that the cat laid on in the washer and give the floor a good vacuuming.

If your cats are not up-to-date on any flea topical meds (Revolution, Frontline, etc) I'd just keep an eye on them - get a flea comb if you don't already have one - that's the easiest way to check for fleas.

Vacuumed every nook and cranny like a mad woman and everything is getting washed in hot water and dried on my sanitized setting

Probably not very much but if your concerned you could apply a topical like advantage to your cats.  If you get an extra dose save if for the stray so you can de-flea him if he comes back.

I didn't see fleas on the cat, just flea dirt, so I don't know if the stray is already being treated. It was extremely friendly and well cared for, so I'm wondering if it was just an outside at night cat

So I found one small tiny black bug on my bed. Could see tiny legs, but when I grabbed it, it didn't jump, and crumbled very easily when I rubbed my fingers together

From what I remember fleas don't crush that easily, and it would have jumped once I tried to get it

I'm completely grossed out. My son sleeps in my bed and I'm terrified of him being bit
