Hello..I am brand new here and first time posting.

12 days ago,my wife left our deck door open, and forgot about it..

My cat,Curious George, and his brother,Rico, both got out the door.

Both cats are feral, and recused from the neighborhood.

My cat,George,is social, adorable, friendly( to family),and my best buddy. His brother,Rico,is pretty much feral, and no one can touch him,or pet him but I love him just the same.

For 12 days,I have sat up every night,from dusk to dawn,put out food,set a trap,and...nothing....

I walk around at night, during the days,whenever..and still nothing.

The first day,we found my cat,right outside,in a bush,and my wife ACTUALLY HAD HIM,but he twisted,and jumped..and ran away.

The last sighting I had was last Sunday, and he was again close, but yet again, ran off.

Of his brother,Rico,I have seen nothing.

A bit about me...I am disabled, and my cat is my best friend in the world to me...I cant begin to describe how I feel, how empty, and lost I am,not to mention exhausted.

I am a guy who has had dogs all his life, and my wife was the one who had a cat..LOL...

There have always been feral cats living in my neighborhood, and I couldnt stand it...never had much luck getting them..they were always too fast,to clever for me,but George walked right into the house one day..one day when I was about as low as I could get...my dog had died,I lost my job..wow..I was pretty sad.

He was a gift..a real gift...and my pal for the last 6 years. His brother, sick, and scraggly, showed up later, and was coaxed inside.

Since then,we have gotten 2 more feral cats, both right off of our deck.

These neighborhood cats know this is a "safe" place, where they can always get a meal, and shelter.

But why wont my cats come home?

No one else is feeding cats around here-I have checked all over.

There is a field close by,but trying to explore it proved nearly impossible...but I know there are cats here..I see trails into the field, and have seen 2 other cats come up on my deck to eat..as well as raccoons, skunks, and possums!,But no sign of my cats.

Both cats are neutered, and had a life I would envy...good food, teats, nothing but the best...and my cat would sleep in the bed with me all the time!

OK,I have gone on too long..I am heart-broken,tired,and wondering...should I give up hope?

My wife says never give up,but she wont walk the neighborhood with me,wait, watch, and look with me anymore...I feel like I am all alone.

I dont know what to do...I could use a shoulder to cry on,at the very least.

Its 6am...I have been up(again) all night, with no sign of either of my cats.

Im worn out,and would love to hear from anyone....

I am so very sorry that your sweet boys are missing.  Have you tried posting signs in the neighborhood or printing fliers and going door to door to hand them out?  Also if you have the means you can purchase a trail camera to place outside your home to see if the cats would be around during the night.  You can find them in most sporting goods stores as well as Amazon.  I have seen some inexpensive ones for around $50-75.

Here are some articles on tips to find missing cats

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/248019/tips-for-finding-a-lost-cat

http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-tips/lost-cat-behavior/

https://www.petfinder.com/cats/lost-and-found-cats/tips-for-finding-lost-cats/

I have had feral cats that live on my deck go missing for many months.  One was gone for 5 months and another for 8 months.  Both returned.  My guess is since they are former feral or outside cats that they know how to hunt.

Read through the articles and definitely check with all of your neighbors.  You are in my thoughts.

I have done everything!

I have a cam set up,food,water,humane trap.

I saw other cats, raccoon's,possoms, skunks, but not my cats.

I have read all the stuff you mentioned, and did everything.

I am sorry to hear your babies are missing. It sounds like you are doing everything you can.  Sometimes it can take a while one of my friend's had a cat get out and it took her a month to find her cat.  She kept expanding the area where she was putting up fliers and it turned out someone had been feeding her cat outdoors on their property and was not educated on microchips.  The person eventually saw a flier in her neighborhood and contact my friend.  My friend was glad to get her cat back.  The person caring for her asked my friend what it meant when a cat was chipped.  My friend explained things to her and the lady told my friend that if anymore friendly lost cats show up that she would take them to a vet to scan them. Her cat ended up several blocks outside her original search area.  Perhaps you should expand where you have fliers up.  If nothing else it will give you more eyes out there looking for your babies with you.

This cat is friendly to my friend but scared around strangers.  She got out while my friend was out of town and I wanted to go help look for her. My friend and I both knew that this cat would not come up to me on her own.  Her adult son who could get near the cat took 3 days off work looking for his mom's cat. Her mom accidentally let the cat out.

Thanks for the reply!

Neither one of my cats will come up to any strangers,I am positive about that, sine they were both originally feral.

From walking the neighborhood,I see no sign of anyone feeding cats, and also, feeding cats in my state is against the law! ( Can you believe that?)

My search area has expanded too...its raining now,so I think tonight will not be good.

Anyone have any experience with dogsfindingdogs.com?

Are such pet finding services nothing more than scams,or what? Im feeling desperate here, and dont know what else to do!

UPDATE!

After 32 days,Rico came home!

After 37 days,Curious George came home!

What a miracle!

The brothers are home, safe and sound!

George is rail-thin,and will have some new scars maybe, but jumped right into my lap after I got him in.

Rico...that boy looked just the same...!

Both ferals are home!

There is always hope..I never stopped looking, watching, and waiting for my 2 brothers.

Yeah..my family pretty much gave up..but I never did,and it paid off.

YAY! I'm so glad that they made their way home.
This just goes to show that  you should never give up hope that a missing cat will turn up!

Hi. Im exactly you right now when you lost your brothers. I have a missing pet. neutered too. Plus no one in my family wants to go with me and look for them around. It is tiring and depressing. it's been two weeks and five days. going 6 actually. but i read your thread and found our cat after more than a month. so i guess theres hope for me. My cat does go outside to stroll but comes back immediately specially when i call him to eat or to snuggle. we're very close. he is like my little brother. i dont know if you still visit this site bec you already found your cats but....anyway...i envy you. i hope i'll also have the same ending you had with your missing pets.

Since you "boys" have been back home now for some time, are they both indoor cats now?

My boys were feral, and were inside cats ever since they were rescued.

Curious George came inside on his own,so he chose US as his humans!

His brother,Rico "The Dude",was thought to be dead when he was a kitten, since we stopped seeing him...

My wonderful, loving, caring neighbor began trapping feral cats in our neighborhood, racked up 15 kills, including a mommy and her kittens..all killed.

My lovely neighbor nearly got Rico, but my wife scared him away from a trap..after many, many run-ins with the police...we had the neighbor cease and desist the trapping, the POISONING of cats, etc.

The ASPCA did NOT help me.

NO humane society helped me.

The police harassed us endlessly, and also were of no help in this situation.

Dead, mutilated kittens were found on our property, and without getting gory....these poor kittens were NOT killed by another animal..( I can identify knife-cuts,vs teeth marks).

Rico showed up on our deck after several months, very sick, very bony, clearly traumatized, and we got him inside, and back to health.

Neither cat was ever outside after they came in,but...with ferals they still have that "call of the wild" in them..so..one day,my wife left the side door open by mistake, and sure enough..both cats ran outside..

I dared not post flyers in my neighborhood, since I have a known "cat killer"living nearby..that made things hard for me,plus I am disabled, and walking is a rather slow, and painful thing for me,but I was out here every day with my cane, walking around looking for them from dusk to dawn for a whole month, until my walking,my outside camera, and my trap at last payed off..and I honestly was no longer hopeful.

But I got both my orange boys back, and I watch every door when its opened so much as an inch now..they love the outside air,and I will always have the fear that they would be dumb enough to run outside again!

They dont show much interest in the outside...but you never know what a feral cat will do..!

Sorry about rambling on about this...

So glad your cats are safely back home.  Your neighbor sounds like a real sicko!!   With your cameras in place do you not have footage of that neighbor of yours on your property doing his heinous  acts???  Then you have proof for the police.

What I used to monitor a small part of my deck was an old lap-top computer with a webcam set up using a neat little program called Yawcam.

I cant afford real cameras, and using a lap-top set up the way I had it was very inconvenient.

So,I never captured any footage of anyone below the fence-line of my deck, sadly.

And,yes,my neighbor is a sicko,a really horrible person....who owns a cat,and a dog! Go figure that one out!

The most appalling thing to me was that I got no help from any humane society, despite phone calls, and e-mails.

Ok,my neighbors hate me..we have a nice little group here that have slandered, lied, and done whatever they thought it would take to have me arrested for taking care of ferals, all without success I may say LMAO.

One last feral remains in the neighborhood, and I will get her too, just as soon as my cat is fully recovered from his teeth extraction.
