Hi,

My cat had an infected canine tooth removed earlier this week.  It was very loose.  I was surprised that the vet did not suture after the removal.  I'm worried.  Should I be?

One of my cats had four teeth pulled in one sitting and I don't recall him having any sutures.  Granted, none of the teeth were canine, I don't really see what the different would be at the gum line.

Does your furbaby seem to be in any pain now, or having any type of difficulty.  Is he on antibiotics?  If he seems in distress, then I would return to the Vet, otherwise, if things seem ok,then I wouldn't worry.

I've had cats have molars removed and had sutures placed; but, these teeth were not abscessed at the time. I wonder if your vet opted to not suture so that the area could continue to drain as needed instead of risking suturing infection up?

If you are concerned, contacting your vet and asking is never a bad idea.
