Hello all,
We are at a bit of a loss with our 6 year old cat Norman.
Every couple of hours, his eyes dilute and he starts drooling uncontrollable for 5 - 10 seconds, he then meows (in discomfort).
We have taken him to the vet twice but they aren't sure what's wrong.
The vet has sedated Norman to check his throat, nose etc for foreign objects (even had a few x rays) but found nothing.
They have given him some meds (which he starts tomorrow) but the drooling just happened again.
We are at a loss..... Has anyone heard or seen anything similar?
Thank you

I am no vet....... but with you mention the eyes dilating and then the drooling and then the meow? It almost sounds like a mini-seizure to me :dk:. And, that your kitty is a bit frightened at the end of it hence the meow. Did the vet mention the possibility of seizure activity? It would be neurological in nature and in the beginning these episodes can be as short as a few seconds and quite mild in nature such as drooling, etc. There would be no test to 100% diagnose other than an MRI to determine which is very, very, very expensive. I would start a journal and note the day/time and symptoms involved when your cat has one of these "episodes". I was thinking - teeth or mouth - which you should have checked out but since you mention the dilating of the eyes and the meow - it sounds more brain-related to me. anyway. Hopefully others will chime in that may have first hand experience with what you are describing is going on with your kitty, Norman. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Again, not saying that this is exactly what is going on but it does help to have some knowledge to discuss with your vet if these episodes keep up.
