I adopted a kitten from the animal shelter on Thursday. She was spayed Wednesday and they gave me instructions to care for her. She is so little and so active so I am worried about her incision becoming infected. Can anyone tell from the photo if it is healing ok? I'm just nervous that it is or will get infected. The Doctor said on Friday the crust is normal in healing but I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance!

It looks fine that just a much larger than normal incision. I had a cat come back with even a longer incision and wasn't able to get a straight story as to why the incision was so big. Did they give you pain meds? She will recover no worries...

They didn't give me any pain meds but she doesn't seem to be in any type of pain. She tried to lick it every now and then but not enough to need to wear a collar. Thanks so much for responding. I'm being a worry wart!

I hope your baby continues improving. He looks good so far!

I wonder why vets don'the give pain meds- at least none I've ever heard of routinely. It bothered me when one of my cats had surgery (many feral cats have adopted me over the years, so have had to spay/neuter a lot) but they never give pain meds. So I made a rule about 10 years ago: if humans would be in pain, my cat likely would be, too, so now I ask for it. My vet has always said yes and gave me for a couple days' worth. Maybe so I'll just hush and leave ;)

I can understand your worry. She is now your baby and you want to be sure she is fine and healing nicely. I am sure she will be fine. Glad that she doesn't seem to be in pain. Just let her rest and spoil her. Keep the site clean and she should be fine.
What is her name??

When I got my first kittys more than 25 years ago vets didn't give out pain meds for these spays. Now it sees to be routine but it looks like some vets still don't.
