Hi there,
My cat Kal had p/u surgery a month ago today. He is really doing fantastic, and seems to be himself again. At our last check up the vet said that we could remove the cone and life should go on as normal with urnianalysis checks every few months to watch for crystals. He is on Royal Canin Urinary SO wet food and actually enjoying it and eating about a can a day, sometimes a little more(he is 14 lbs).
What my concern is, is that I am completely freaked out about stricture and am afraid to leave his cone off all the time. When I have it off while I am at home with him, He definitely licks at the area. It isn't all the time but I catch him every once in awhile hanging out down there. It could be that he is just checking out his new gear as it never appears to be irritated, but I guess I am wondering if there is still a chance something could go wrong from him licking. As I said, it is never really that aggressive other than after he goes tot eh bathroom and cleans himself and the random 2 second lick.
Any and all thoughts are appreciated for this seriously stressed/freaked out cat mommy. This was NOT an easy process and has been a month long recovery, albeit very worth it.
