I picked up a can of Impulse / Halo's Guinea Hen and turkey, both my cats really liked it, especially my one cat who is having some health issues, a vet visit pending.

According to one site, it's supposed to be low carb. It doesn't have any starchy ingredients like potatoes or peas, it does contain dandelion greens and barley grass.

I was a bit hesitant because I'm not sure about the ingredient agar agar, guess we'll see how it goes but I need to add a bit of variety to the Instinct diet my one cat mostly eats, currently she is really loving the LID turkey.

Any thoughts on Impulse's guinea hen or negative reactions, funny tummies? Thanks. :)

I tried it for one of my picky cats, she wouldn't touch it.  No surprises there.

I bought the quail and greens and rabbit and greens. My cats liked both. I did not buy the turkey because they are not fond of turkey in general. I see impulse by halo made the best foods list for 2016 on the natural cat website! I was surprised my cats liked it, they always gave thumbs down on regular spots stew

My cats have had all 4 flavors in the Impulse line, Guinea Hen, Quail, Rabbit & Chicken/Egg. The 2 pate lovers and my kidney cat liked Halo's Impulse rabbit over Instinct rockstar rabbit. They seem to like the other 3 flavors better than rabbit though because the rabbit formula is a little dense for a pate. No negative reactions on any of the flavors.

If your local pet store carries it, pick up a can or 2 to try. Trial and error, that's really the only way to really know how your cat will like it or not.

I have tried the Impulse quail with my cats before. One of them sniffed at it and then scratched around the plate like he was trying to cover up some poop [emoji]128169[/emoji]. The other one ate half of her portion and promptly threw it up. It's been a while ago. It may have been because it had turkey in it (I don't remember). The only Halo food that both of my cats will eat (and keep down) is the Halo Spot's Stew Lamb. It's a shame since the Impulse seems to have better ingredients.

I only used the food for a short time, the cats ended up getting itchy on it. Don't know if it was the "natural flavor" (msg?), however, I won't use it again.

I still think it's a good food though, for those cats who don't have any negative reaction to it, fairly low carb and no carrageenan.
