I recently got a kitten and he's been up to some trouble lately.
After I got out of the shower, my mom came to me with Potato (his real name is Zoro but he looks awfully like a potato) the kitten and told me that he spilled some kind of cream/lotion which got in his face (his left eye was squinting). We left him to clean his face after my mom helped him and Potato seemed to get better after an hour, however I'm still very worried. There is a hint of redness and it seems to be irritated as he does that 'one eye super villain' squint every so often (it's quite amusing to look at even though I'm worried sick). He's been eating, drinking and using the litter box so I assume there was no poisoning.
Currently we are trying to sleep, hoping that Potato will be better tomorrow. Do you think this could have done some damage or perhaps it's nothing severe like getting soap in our eyes? If the redness stays we will definitely take him to the vet, but a second opinion and some reassurance would be extremely comforting as this is our first cat.
Thank you so much!

I discovered during my cats URI that the dollar store saline with an eyecup was so small it worked for my cats. Your kitten may be smaller.

Time to kitten proof your house. They are toddlers that crawl. And they aren't being bad. He is being a kitten going through the normal and usually lifelong pursuit of What is That!

I learned how to take the trap out of my bathroom sink early on. Kitten stuffs earrings down the drain. No one's fault but mine.

Haha yes he is very curious, especially being in a new home for a little under a month. We tried our best to kitten proof the house but I'm not sure how he got on the countertops, he usually stays away from the bathroom.
He seems a lot better today, I only wish that this situation could have been avoided if my mom or myself was there to carry him off (he follows us around everywhere). Next time we know to clean off the surface of any bottles!

Just keep a close watch on the eye. We don't have children and our house was never childproofed to begin with. One little kitten and it was a massive reorganization.
