Hello everyone,

I have been feeding my two cats ( 4 months old ) wet and dry Royal Canin food.

I just read online a bunch of bad reviews about this brand and it's not even on the top 8 cat food brands.

Should I start looking for another brands' products ? My vet says Royal Canin is good enough, but maybe he said that because it's the only brand available at his clinic. What do you guys think ?

On a personal level I would never trust a vets advice on nutrition. My dogs vet years back pushed Science Diet constantly and that is mediocre but high priced.

As for the food well it seems like it's not so much a bad brand some like it but I find Royal Canin to be way overpriced for it's actually in it.

Bottom line? If a vet is selling it and pushing it I'd be suspicious. But I only use Friskies which is the best (it's affordable to feed 100% wet in my present situation and it's one of the only brands [feed some Fancy Feast too] Sera/Vincent will eat).

A quick Google search comes up with these pet stores in your area:

Head over to a store and see what brands are avaialble. Post those brands here and we can help you choose a good quality brand.

Given where you are located, I don't know what your options for cat food are.  Can you tell us? Can you get foods like Nutro, Earthborn, Weruva, Orijin, some of the "smaller company" foods?
I doubt a small US based pet food company like Weruva sells their product internationally except for maybe Canada. Bigger brands like Fancy Feast and Whiskas are more likely to be international brands.

I additionally utilize balanced diet of my vets. I previously fed my pet kibble, yet appeared to be excessively rich for them. we changed from pacific stream and have been nutritious that to kids for few a month early.

We have had several discussions on this forum about vets not really knowing much about nutrition. Most will recommend RC and Hills and are probably sponsored by them too. I would personally never purchase any food from a vet’s office. Not only is it overpriced, it’s also crap.
