My cat Oliver, I adopted early this year is a chronic herpes kitty that is on continuous antiviral treatment. Is it safe to adopt another adult cat that has had all it's immunizations all it's life and is healthy? I wouldn't want to infect a healthy cat by bringing it into my home. Does anyone know the answer to this?

It will be fine. As long as Oliver isn't having an active flare up and you increase his Lysine and use some Feliways, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.  I have a herpes positive kitty and have since added 3 kitties to my house.  She's handled all of them well with no flare ups or illnesses.

The only thing you'll need to do is keep the newcomer separated and do a proper introduction of the two.  A gradual transition will work better for your herpes kitty since stress is a major cause of flare ups.

I would go ahead and start him on the lysine twice a day at the maintenance dose.  I'm fortunate in that we've been able to control my girl's herpes with diet, lysine, and Feliway.
