I have a 5 year old cat and recently he's been so hungry all the time. I thought I was worms so de wormed him and its done nothing to his appetite. I feed him wet and dry food but he,ll eat it and instantly want more. He constantly crys for more food! He is more of an outdoor cat but does stay home alot too, he's not overweight I think he's lost weight which made me think worms so got that sorted. Don't know what else it could be??

This sounds like a medical problem.  The most common common cause of  combined huge hunger with weight loss in adult cats is hyperthyroidism, a very treatable condition.  Regardless your cat needs to be examined by a vet.  Cats who get plenty of food should not be this hungry.

It also could be diabetes. Your cat needs to be seen by a vet. Make sure the vet does blood work. Insist on it if you have to. A simple look at the cat isn't going to diagnose any underlying issue.

One dewormer treatment won't help to remove any potential worms. It might kill some of the adults but the larvae and unhatched eggs are unaffected so the worm life cycle continues. A couple doses following the package instructions will completely stop the worm life cycle. Prescription parasite treatments / preventatives work better than OTC ones. Ask the vet when you take your cat in. A cat who goes outdoors should be on a parasite preventative, IMO.

Glipizide? That doesn't work well. It forces the already burned out pancrease to work even harder to control blood gluocse levels. Plus giving pills daily to a cat is difficult and stressful. Insulin gives the pancrease a rest and there are published scientific studies that say that sooner a diabetic cat starts insulin and the proper diet, the greater the chances of remission are.

FelineDiabetes.com is a great place to get more info on caring for a diabetic cat
The message board there is extrememly helpful and you'll get much more advice there than from your vet, although your cat still needs to be under a vet's care for the diabetes.
