Hello, this is my first post on this site. My cat has chronic diarrhea and the vet hasn't been able to find a cause so she suggested a change in diet. She gave me some Hill's I/D, saying that it was a bland food, but he vomited on it and the ingredients seemed worse than his current food, Diamond Naturals. I went to a holistic vet for a second opinion and she suggested raw and to stay away from poultry. I'm trying to find a high quality dry food to add to his diet since he was doing better until he found ways to get into the other cats food while I'm at work. I would love to feed all homemade to all of my cats, but I have 10 plus a feral colony , and I'm a new college graduate with a part time job.  I'm looking  at limited ingredient dry  food  to try to see if that helps. Most of the single protein dry foods I've found are low in protein. The only one that's higher in protein that I've seen is Farmina N%D, maybe in lamb or boar.  I'm open to any other suggestions as well.

Thank you both for responding so quickly. The holistic vet wanted him to avoid turkey for the time being. She said it was similar to chicken. I will look into the rabbit, i was just worried that  since it is only 30% protein it was too low. The limited ingredient foods seem so much lower in protein than other foods made by the same company, which is why I was looking at Farmina, I was just concerned with the large variety of fruits and vegetables in it.

The guaranteed analysis minimum protein content of the NV LID rabbit is 30%. The actual protein content is higher. You'll have to contact NV for the actual protein content. I wouldn't worry about protein content as long as the food has a statement that says it meets minimum AAFCO requirements.

I emailed NV, but never got a reply. I decided to try it anyway since that is the only one that is available locally. All of my cats love it. Even the cats that can eat their other food are ignoring it now. I am also putting a little slippery elm powder and Mercola probiotics into the matching canned food. His stool is still runny but it's firming up some so he's heading in the right direction.

I would suggest that with slippery elm you mix it up with a little water to make a slurry and add that to his food (if its wet food, I wouldn't add it to dry). SE works better when its a thick syrup so that it can coat the lining of the stomach. I make the SE syrup from this site and then feed it to my older cat via syringe before his morning meal. It's worked wonders for him.
