I have read so many reviews on the best foods for cats and kittens, but my concern is

the kitten's smelly stool. I started probiotics which seem to be helping a bit. The stool is not

as 'soft' as it had been a couple of weeks ago, but still not completely formed.

I don't believe it is giardia as I thought it may have been. Pretty Girl and "Baby" are ferals,

and I am beginning to think  (Baby 5 months old), has some kind of gastric or intestinal distress

from being malnourished from birth. In any case, 2 samples tested for giardia sent to the lab were negative.

My question is.... which dry kitten foods would be best to eliminate "stinky" stool?   (assuming he is completely

parasite free). He's going in for neutering in a week or so, and I'll test him again.

I have read many contradicting reviews.

Hmmm.  not sure there is a magic bullet for stinky stools, food wise.  The only thing that I know of that worked for my guys was when they were on a raw diet, which is actually a pretty far cry from dry food.  Now I feed high quality canned, with probiotics mixed in so I'm sure they are consuming ALL of the probiotics, and I can definitely tell when they've used the box if I happen to be passing by.  So...I guess I don't have an answer for you.

Maybe someone else has made a discovery that I don't know about and will pop on here and tell us about it

Have they been de-wormed? Feral kittens often have worms. It's really impossible to tell you which food wont upset your kitties tummies. I'd keep with the probiotics. Using a good quality one will do wonders, as not all probiotics are the same. I'd prob feed something grain free in case it's an allergy. I really like Orijen for dry, but it's pricy and it can be too rich for some cats, although my kittens do just fine on it (with wet food too, of course).

My kitten had smelly gas and stool for a few months. We had her on Royal Canin kitten and I think that was the problem. I switched her to Halo and her smells have went way down. Halo's website says their dry food is for adults and kittens.
