Possible Food Allergy?

My 9yr old male cat has been furiously licking, biting & scratching himself. No evidence of ear mites or fleas. Vet said probably a food allergy. He's been eating the same food for years. Fancy Feast Classic. He seems miserable. Please help us!

Wildmans mom? Fancy feast is one that doesn't seem nutritionally complete. Are you supplementing with dry? Its also 3 and not 5 ounces. I was giving A that as an alternate to Friskies canned as a transition food. She eats twice a day and 5 ounces. When I say twice I mean two cans really. But every 3 hours or five depending. As I said fancy feast was a transition food but I gave her the friskies dry too. I don't know how any cat can survive on only 3 oz. a day. Itching could be flea and tick (vermin) protection or allergy. I'm not versed in cat scratch fever you'd have to look that up. I hope it's not that. Cats are individual so it depends on breed and circumstances. Allergies are said to come and go...some. But its a misnomer that all cats can eat soy. Mine is allergic accept i the Friskies dry (very nutritionally complete) and her meaty bits. They seem to be gone overboard with liver and soy in other types of Friskies canned. Given the dangers of liver for cats I have no clue and as I said, soy is often an allergy in cats. I'd check ingredients in what your giving yours now and see if anything changed and maybe switch to friskies to resolve the itchies...if its that, and investigate other reasons for itching including new stressors.

People get cat scratch fever from a bite or scratch from a cat. Cats don't get it they give it.

They scratch, like chicken pox? Is that what you mean Stewball? Or no? Im really not sure what cat scratch fever is except a rock song. Lol. I just want her totally free of them.
